On Our Radar: Upcoming French Flick Targets Fashionistas

French director Laetitia Colombani's next flick could have us pining for fashion in the way that Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette left us drooling for macaroons.

Mes Stars et moi or My Stars and Myself, starring Emmanuelle Béart (left), Catherine Deneuve and Mélanie Bernier, is about actresses who go from fashion shoots to premieres wearing the trendiest designer brands. Supposedly, Béart sports Dior couture; Deneuve goes all out in Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Prada, and Fendi; and Bernier dons Lanvin. These lucky ladies can be seen on French screens in October.

How to Throw a Midnight in Paris-Themed Oscar Party

If you're planning on throwing an Oscar viewing party for Hollywood's big night on Feb. 26, then I suggest that you go big this year and give your event a theme. Take a cue from the nominees and let best picture nominee Midnight in Paris give you inspiration. It has plenty of elements that translate into an opulent party: Paris, the 1920s, and many of its own scenes of revelry. Here's how to use the Woody Allen film as your party muse, and don't forget to fill out a ballot with your Oscar picks for a chance to win an iPad.

How to decorate: Scatter vintage books by the authors featured in the film, like Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and T.S. Eliot, and decorate with mini French flags and twinkle lights. Stand a cardboard cutout of the Eiffel Tower near the entrance of the party.
How to dress: The dress code can be either 1920s French (think flapper and drop-waist dresses), or you can just wear your regular clothes like Owen Wilson's character Gil, but you have to continually act surprised and impressed by your surroundings.
What to serve: A rainbow of French macarons, a cheese plate, baguettes, and fancy crepes. Serve champagne in '20s-style glasses like the ones used in the film (though these are disposable).

Misha Nonoo's rich, refined Fall collection was inspired by the impeccable tailoring of Savile Row and paid a quiet homage to French cinematic legend Anouk Aimée and Francoise Sagan's 1958 film Bonjour Tristesse. In addition to her signature jackets, the recent Rising Star Award winner showed collared blouses in hammered silks, paired with perfectly cut trousers and luxe fur accents - conveying the importance of silhouette and form in each look.

Trends: Brightly colored trousers and button-up blouses, hexagon prints, bell-shaped hems, fur accents.
Colors: Teal, plum, crimson, navy.
Key Piece: We love the combination of a navy peplum jacket, printed pants, and red heels.
Accessories: Minimal chic; colored suede heels and snoods.
Who Would Wear It: Polished, put-together fashion darlings like Olivia Palermo and Jaime King.

We've always wanted to take a stab at rolling out a few Natchitoches meat pies. Thanks to an easy recipe from Food Orleans, this might be a dream realized sooner rather than later.

Natchitoches meat pies are one of those special little treats with a name as fun to say as they are to scarf down. Nackadish - that's how you say it - is a small town we drive through on our way north to visit Alexandria or Oklahoma, and it's where Steel Magnolias was filmed, and it's famous for these little pies. It's a beautiful little place, with a picturesque riverfront lined with shops and restaurants that have their own sort of French Quarter-ish wrought iron balconies (remember the Easter scene where Jackson slapped Ouiser? That's the riverfront!). But you don't have to go into the actual town to get yourself some meat pies; just stop at any gas station right off I-10. They all fry them up and they're all pretty wonderful.

Jake Gyllenhaal Gets to Know His Fellow Berlin International Film Festival Jurors

Jake Gyllenhaal and his fellow members of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival gathered this morning for a photocall. Before entering the Grand Hyatt, Jake stopped to sign autographs and pose for a few photos. He then linked up with Charlotte Gainsbourg, British director Mike Leigh, and Dutch director Anton Corbijn. Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, German actress Barbara Sukowa, French director François Ozon, and Algerian writer Boualem Sansal round out the group of jurors. Jake and company will decide which of the eighteen films in competition takes home the prestigious Golden Bear Award for best picture. Diane Kruger's Farewell, My Queen is among those in contention, as is Angelina Jolie's In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Diane Kruger Gorgeously Gets the Berlin Film Festival Started

Diane Kruger kicked off the Berlin International Film Festival fun this morning at a photocall for her new movie Farewell, My Queen. She wore a 10 Crosby by Derek Lam look, which features a skirt worn over a dress. Her French-language picture, which is based on the story of Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution, comes from director Benoît Jacquot. Diane actually stars as Antoinette, opposite Léa Seydoux as her lady-in-waiting. The movie is one of eighteen in contention for the festival's top honor, the Golden Bear. Benoît recently spoke about casting Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette. He said, "I wanted a foreigner and Diane happens to have similar roots to the queen; she is blond like her and about the same age . . . [Diane had a] desire for this role that was so passionate that she was irresistible to me."

Cameron, Diane, and Vanessa Start Their Days With Chanel Couture

Today's Chanel fashion show brought A-list guests to the Grand Palais in Paris. Cameron Diaz continued making the rounds during Couture Fashion Week, and she was joined by Diane Kruger and Vanessa Paradis. All three ladies modeled Karl Lagerfeld's designs, and once inside, they took seats alongside other Karl favorites like Daphne Guinness, Alice Dellal, and Poppy Delevigne.

This was Cameron's third show since arriving in France. She kicked things off at Versace, then stepped out for the Dior presentation. Vanessa, meanwhile, has been avoiding any fallout from the Johnny Depp breakup rumors by sticking close to her French home in recent days. She stepped out last night for a premiere of her film Café de Flore, and was spotted shopping for home goods over the weekend. This morning's event was Diane's latest with Chanel. Diane attended the opening of their Numéro Privés at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas over the weekend and partied with the likes of Jessica Alba and Rachel Zoe.

Vanessa Paradis Addresses Johnny Depp Breakup Rumors at Her Premiere

Vanessa Paradis hit the red carpet solo last night for a screening of her movie Café de Flore. She first started premiering the film last year at various film festivals, and it is finally due to arrive in French theaters tomorrow. Vanessa posed for photos with Marin Gerrier and Jean-Marc Vallée, and later reported to the afterparty at Chez Castel nightclub. She did limited interviews, but in one conversation, spoke about her rumored split from Johnny Depp. Vanessa Paradis told France's Radio 1, "You know, when I eat three peas, I'm pregnant. When I visit a city, I'm buying a house. In the Winter I separate, in the Summer I marry. It's been 15 years since I've been getting married every year. In addition, I have to answer all these rumors!"

Vanessa and Johnny are said to have split after nearly 14 years together. However, the pair seem to be staying close for the benefit of their children, 12-year-old Lily-Rose and 9-year-old Jack. The family has traditionally split their time between LA and France. Vanessa and the children rang in 2012 from the West Coast, but she's been in France for the last week to promote her new big screen project and also enjoy some of the fun of Couture Fashion Week.
