Fab Finding Follow-Up: Garden Party

I wasn't lying when I said a light bulb went off in my head when I watched the video of Stella McCartney's garden party. Hence, I'm hosting a fun garden party for some close friends to re-create the resort fun. But this isn't any old garden party; I'm asking guests to dress up, a la Stella's latest collection. I told you to think girly, sophisticated and ethereal.

I started you off with this Mesh Flower Headwrap ($16) because it's just the thing to get your creative juices flowing. Let's see what you all came up with!

I was instantly taken by the majestic photo color me high used for her inspiration piece. The soft rays of sunlight and lush backdrop are perfect for a secret garden party. Such an occasion calls for clothing in the softest colors, floral prints, and stand-out accessories. The two outfits she chose are both beautiful in their own way. Would you wear the ravishing, romantic dress or bodacious sequin jacket and skinny jeans? I know which one I would choose but sshh, it's a secret.

If you can get beyond the spastic jazz music at the beginning, you'll enter a secret garden, aka Stella McCartney's 2009 Resort collection at a NYC park. Seeing pictures of Chanel Iman and Lisa Cant frolicking on the grass is not as compelling as seeing it on video. Models eating candy - gasp! - blowing bubbles and socializing makes me want to host a dressed-up picnic of my own (a light bulb just went off in my head). On a more serious note, Stella dishes about the reason for presenting in New York and her take on the latest collection, she even breaks it down into four parts) The girlie girl designer has set the bar high for future resort collection locations.

Eclectic Style at the Serpentine Soirée

If I could attend one Summer soiree it would be the fabulous Serpentine Gallery's Summer party. It's not the biggest or the most star-studded, but it's a pretty cool spread and diverse, stylish crowd. Where else do Dasha Zhukova and Jamiroquoi's Jay Kay mingle? It looked like a lovely day in Kensington Gardens, and oh look - here's best fashion buds Thandie and Matthew Williamson. Curious to see inside the Serpentine? Step right up.

I don't consider myself a girlie girl, but I do enjoy the occasional tea party. My friend is graciously hosting one at her place this weekend, and all I need to do is arrive looking as fresh as the scones. The festivities will take place outdoors in her beautiful garden, so I want to look polished but not stuffy. Think modern day, not Stepford wife.

I'll start you off with this Lauren Merkin Eve Leopard Clutch ($165) because I love the Springy leopard print.

Color Me Inspired: I Love You, Man's Sunshiney Bride and Bridesmaids

This Spring, in the comedy I Love You, Man, we witnessed one of the happiest, liveliest colors a bridesmaid can wear. The maids in the movie wore Nanette Lepore's "Still Free" shift dresses, FYI. Appropriate for a garden, beach, or even indoor wedding (if the reception or party is outdoors), your bridesmaids will thank you. How can one stress on the big day when she's surrounded by chipper yellow best buds? I'm also an advocate of non-bridesmaids bridesmaid dresses for the supporting cast - sourcing a mid-range designer for wear-again cocktail dresses is the way to go. It's thoroughly modern and, again, your bridesmaids will be thankful. What do you think - are you as smitten with this sunshiney bride and her bridesmaids as I am?

Liberty

A feminine print of small garden-party florals. First popularized by London's Liberty & Co. department store. Often gives off a sweet, country vibe. Can be found on dresses, skirts, scarves, and even lingerie. The print is so popular, it made its way onto Nike sneakers. The Spring catwalks - specifically Marc by Marc Jacobs (left) and Cacharel - were filled with liberty prints.
