The inaugural issue of Vogue India hit stands today, featuring Bollywood stars Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, local supermodels MoniKangana Dutta and Laxmi Menon, and Australian supermodel Gemma Ward all on the cover, shot by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier.
This new edition of Vogue is expected to be more colorful and more vibrant than the western models, according to Alex Kuruvilla, managing director of Conde Nast India. He also expects it to draw attention to Indian designers, Indian photographers, and even Indian models.

Gemma Ward is one lucky lady! She not only got to appear on the inaugural cover of Vogue China two years ago (below), but she just recently shot the cover of the debut issue of Vogue India, which is expected to appear in September. I love Gemma, but I think it is interesting that they chose her for the first covers of both the Chinese and Indian Vogues.

I know bold shoulders are all the rage, but would you wear these Gemma Degara Chain Shoulder Pads ($95) to enhance them? It's definitely an interesting concept — part cape, part shoulder pads, part necklace. I would perhaps give it a whirl, but not in that exact way!

By just looking at her tough necklaces and earrings, you'd never guess that Gemma Redux designer Rachel Dooley is completely self-taught. In fact, designing jewelry was her creative outlet while studying for the New York Bar exam. I've had a few friends take that horrendous test, and they were never able to do anything but study.

Try to stop staring at Blake's legs and focus on her teal Vena Cava Resort zigzag print jumper, her black Miu Miu bowler, and Gemma Redux statement necklace. Blake has been the best dressed of all her co-stars this week during her promotions for Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2; she was also Celebrity Styled in a chic jean outfit. But I have to say all four of the young ladies have been looking smashing.

Something about viewing go-see Polaroids of models seems invasive, but cool. It's almost like getting a sneak peek of your favorite models in the comfort of their own home, without tons of makeup, without all the serious posing. For those who aren't familiar with modeling jargon, a go-see is an appointment arranged by the model or her agency as an opportunity to interview with clients.

Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward make doing laundry look glamorous, but for those of us in the real world, it's anything but. Whether you're doing it in a ball gown or not, the reality is that yellow pit stains are one of the things that make the process grueling. They're stubborn and a major pain to remove.

Designer ads are getting more and more colorful, and it's making me want to skip Winter and jump straight to Spring. Take Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2008 ads featuring Gemma Ward, Lily Donaldson, and Jessica Stam; they're still very Dolce & Gabbana raw, minus the groping and grinding action. There's something ultra cool about swan-like models clad in luxurious fabrics lounging in a shabby art warehouse.
