Last week at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala, Kerry Washington and Georgina Chapman wore pretty, poufy frocks from Georgina's coveted Marchesa line. Both dresses were white, but notice how the two styles varied in texture. Kerry's tulle embellishment and streamlined shape gave a more architectural appeal, while Georgina's feathered creation emoted flirty, flapper energy.

Channeling the energy of the brand's muse — European socialite Marchesa Lusia Casati — Chapman dressed up to look like Casati with fluffy hair and a moody makeup palette. But what really catches our attention are the writhing snakes and cheetahs pictured with Chapman.

Is it me or was last night's episode of Project Runway intense? Emotions are running high, as they normally do this close to the finale show. I liked the challenge — I love the New York Botanical Gardens (if you haven't been, go) — and the idea of creating evening gowns out of flora.

Who Wore It Better? Marchesa Red Rosette Dress
This one's a toughie considering both Lake Bell and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman wore Marchesa's red rosette dress the same exact way. Their red satin shoes and pulled-back hair are the same, but Lake opted for a red snakesin clutch at the What Happens in Vegas UK premiere, while Georgina went with a glittery silver one at the 2008 CFDA Awards. Although Georgina designed the dress, I think Lake has more natural ability to pull off such a funky shoulder detail.
