Grey Ant + Teva's Most Comfy Performance Heel on the Planet - Love It or Hate It?

Grey Ant has paired up with outdoor footwear brand Teva to create what they're calling the most comfortable performance high heel on the planet. Basically, it's Teva's Hurricane sport "mandal" redone on a four-inch stacked stiletto. There are two styles, $330 each: the "Worlds Unite" in black and white with Velcro closure, and the "Natural" in tan with a buckle. It's an interesting collaboration, no doubt, but will it work in real life? Either way, it's fun to see the fashion-meets-the-outdoors shoot.

Grey Ant's diffusion line Grey Antics has finished its Fall '10 look book and we took a peruse to bring you the best shots. It's a Navajo-inspired scene, with random tangents of edgy bold blacks and army influences. There are teal accents, browns, mauve, and a few pops of color. One highlight is the movement in the models' poses - it's always nice to see the clothes in action. Urban Outfitters currently has the Spring/Summer Grey Antics pieces but will soon stock Fall.

Let's face it: Lamé got a bad rap. The world experienced too much of a good thing in the excessive '80s. I think we've finally recovered from the overdose. Here we are, far from lame lamé. Mad Men's January Jones shows us how to have fun in lamé in her one shoulder belted frock. She slices the sheen up with a black banded belt but dares to wear metallic sandals to keep the fluidity. Does she pull it off? Is lamé still lame? You tell me.

Last night's Grey Ant show definitely pulled out all of the over-the-top, you-can't-wear-this-every-day stops. The hair was either a controlled mess of super-tight curls or and a punky updo that make Flock of Seagulls look staid in comparison.

While the hair looked back a few decades, the makeup looked toward the future. Designed by MAC makeup artist Tiffany Johnston, the idea was plastic skin. "It has a little reflection, so it's not dewy-and it's not matte, either," she said." To get the look, she used a tiny amount of neutral lip gel and cheek highlighter for a nearly natural finish. She then created a "doll-eyed" look: One set of models had blacked-out eyes, while the other had electric blue eyes. To get the blunt eyelashes, Johnston trimmed false lashes at the ends and packed on the mascara. An everyday look it's not, but I always love learning about these unusual techniques!

Trend Alert: High-Waisted Jeans

The 70s are back! What with wide legged jeans in full force and now high-waisted jeans, it is clear the skinny and low rise have competition. I am elated - you all know by now I have a thing for the carefree styles of the dazed & confused decade. While the high waist was around long before the 70s, try the 50s, it was given sex appeal in the decade of disco. I prefer this look worn with a wide leg, it just complements any body way better. Either way, if you've got the feelin' go for it!

Here is an online-only store that carries some of the freshest talent right now. Blaec, pronounced 'Black,' is meant to look like a brick-and-morter store with mannequins wearing outfits on the homepage - as if looking through storefront windows. This store carries designers such as Grey Ant, Catherine Malandrino, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Kenneth Jay Lane.

The site is very simple and quick to navigate with the list of designers along the left hand side, as well as the 'sale rack.' When you click on a designer, the clothing items appear as well as a little bio - which I thought was interesting. There is also a new designer contest called Collection 1.0 where eight finalists will have their designs featured on the site and Blaec shoppers will pick the winner.
