The trend of the oversize purse is slowly waning, but let's face it - a big bag seems practical. You need somewhere to stow all your stuff. The problem is heavy handbags can cause back, shoulder, and neck pain and possibly lead to arthritis.

I suggest you go through your purse and lighten your load. Take five minutes and remove all non-essential items. Clean out your wallet too and get rid of credit cards you don't use regularly and business cards you no longer need. The same goes for receipts. If you're changing handbags as the seasons change, take the opportunity to figure out what you truly need to carry and what is just weighing you down.

In addition to plenty of other treasures, French model and designer Ines de la Fressange used a handbag and a single boot as decorative accessories to dress up a chest of drawers in her office in Paris. Seeing as the items are works of art in their own right, and her other furnishings are downright glamorous as well, I think she's pulled it off. But just any old shoe wouldn't do. Last week, I shared another fun reader request: this lovely 22-year-old lady lost 20 pounds over the past three months, and she's planning on losing another 20 pounds by the year's end. In the meanwhile, she's "swimming" in her clothes, and needs to get some new ones, especially for work!

She's from Miami and her office dress code is business casual - any type of shoe goes. At night she moonlights as a student, so she's looking for some pieces that are both stylish and professional.

Color gradation is sometimes cool. But on a purse, like this Prada Ombre Patent Leather Tote, $2,270, it looks quite tacky. I really like the shape of the purse as well as the buckled top handles, but the color theatrics aren't for me. What about you?

Roberto Cavalli is known for his over-the-top designs, so it's no surprise to me that his Roberto Cavalli Reptile Hybrid Bag, (guess the price!), posted by Uacosj in the Love It or Hate It? group, is eccentric. I don't love it, but it's not ghastly either. I wouldn't necessarily buy it for myself, but if it were given to me as a gift, I would carry it to a fancy schmancy soiree.
