Hot off the Spring runway comes this Miu Miu Lady Harlequin Bubble Tunic ($1,790). Kirsten Dunst made similarly cartooned tops look Fab in the Miu Miu Spring ad campaign, but do you think the same goes for this one?

I think I just found the inspiration for my bedroom . . . or shall I say, boudoir? As a long time fan of the purple and red color combo, the dark shadows and moody feel of the latest crop of Miu Miu ads definitely intrigues. I am also a long time fan of Kirsten and think she is the perfect fit for the brand. The only thing I'm not thrilled about here is the actual clothes. This was one of my least favorite collections of Spring - a hodgepodge of French maids, Pierrots, harlequin and Playboy bunnies - and I ultimately felt the clothes weren't very wearable. But, Kristen wears the Spring offerings very well and with a subtle suggestion of kink. Miu Miu, reconsidered.

Paris Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Viktor & Rolf

After last season, when models walked out attached to their own personal lighting apparatuses, I was curious to see what gimmick Viktor & Rolf would come up with next.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren are romancing the harlequin for Spring: Pierrot collars, pom-poms, diamond shapes, and violins were choice motifs. The pretty palette was Chanel-inspired: black, white, blushing pink and peach. There were a couple trademark fashion-as-surrealist-art outfits - the ruffled pink coat which framed the model's face with a white rosette and pink violin, for instance.

But as the models emerged from a gaping mouth, it was clear that Viktor & Rolf was going more commercial. Wearable silk minidresses with lace collars and multiple beautiful tiered gowns were red carpet-ready. Even the violin theme was toned down to a lace appliqué or a necklace. Subtle Viktor & Rolf, but the Amsterdam-based fashion brand still astounds.

The Look For Less: Posh's Miu Miu Harlequin Bag

I absolutely love it when Victoria Beckham lets her hair down (figuratively) and goes casual. Well, I don't know how casual one can be carrying that gorgeous Miu Miu Harlequin bag, but you get my drift. It almost looks like the twin sister of the Dolce & Gabbana diamond bag Fergie carried recently. I dig the subdued colors, braided handle, but I sure don't love the price, which is bound to be in the thousands . . .

This Steve Madden Multicolored Tote ($175) is certainly not cheap, but it's bearable. It has the diamond detail of the Miu Miu, and the circle handle of Mary-Kate Olsen's yellow Dior. So for that price, you not only get a Miu Miu, but also a Dior. Sweet!

2010 Spring New York Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs

If you suffer from pediophobia, you may despise Marc Jacob's Spring collection. A mix of harlequin, geisha, and cabaret cutie, ultimately, the theatric collection manifested like a melange of stern-faced dolls in high-fashion fixings. An abundance of ruffles, sometimes completely covering a frock, is over-the-top femme. Beading, layering, florals and plaids, and inside-out corsetry gave way to a complex collection. The one steady, and no doubt sell-worthy, aspect: outerwear. Marc has a sharp scissor when it comes to military coats and crisp jackets; these brought the fantasy back to reality. In addition, navy pinstripe got the ruffle treatment, giving way to nuanced tailoring. The drippy gowns aren't the most dreamy, but everything else is imagination gone gaga. Speaking of, Lady Gaga and Madonna were famous front rowers, and Perez Hilton was present. Always a surprise or two at MJ . . .

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta. Pure, defined, elegant. No matter what your personal style, one has to admire the works of art that is Oscar. And admire I did, from the balcony of the Upper East Side venue, overlooking top editors, socialites, and Jennifer Lopez. The collection kicked off with some colorblock bathing suits - that was a surprise - and eased into tie-dyed skirts, white silk crepe blouses, silk sweaters, linen pantsuits, and ruffled blouses. Almost everything was cinched with Alaia-resembling perforated leather corset belts. These pregown treats were paired-down elegance, but architectural shapes and prints were thoroughly modern. Navy, white, and yellow pieces had a nautical flair, and de la Renta's favorite print of all - ikat - was reinvented yet again. Then came the gowns, from all directions on the runway, creating a stir of decadence. A navy embroidered backless lace gown was breathtaking, Coco's white silk peplum gown with navy Harlequin embroidery was stunning, and the finale dazzler: a silver maco bead embroidered strapless gown was heaven on the catwalk.

On Our Radar: Women Choose Shoes Over Bags

Can it be? Have shoes replaced bags as the hottest fashion item? If so, I'm not complaining. I have a growing collection of bags, but as of late, I've become quite bored of the options out there. But the Spring shoe department, which houses such rarities as this MIu Miu Cutout Harlequin Bootie ($890), is a whole different story.

It seems the trend of naming bags after models and celebrities is now being used on footwear. Giambattista Valli has created a Victoria shoe in honor of Mrs. Beckham, while Calvin Klein made a Suri shoe, named after Tom Cruise's daughter. Also, unusual designs and materials used on bags is now being used on footwear. If that's not proof enough, department store Harvey Nichols has reported a 15 percent rise in shoe sales this season and a higher demand for runway heels. Adversely, a recent survey has forecast an 18 percent drop in handbag sales. It's also being predicted that women will soon spend more money on expensive shoes than bags. Do you buy it?

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Sass & Bide

Once in a while a runway show brings a smile to my face. Sass & Bide took a sad story and turned it into fruit punch with their return to the runway Fall collection. The show was dedicated to a friend of theirs who passed away from cancer. "Rainbows for Kate” is a celebration of life, love, hope and happiness.

Rainbows translated into sequins, polka dots, ruffles, ribbons, plaid and super elaborate albeit fabulous head pieces. Layered stockings, fierce black heels and black undertones kept the collection from being overly frilly. Though the varicolored textures - also including a harlequin sequin print - were a tad circus-like, they were fun and unique. It's nice to see something daring at New York fashion week, and it's nice to witness such rich inspiration.

Milan Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Giorgio Armani

Sensual, cool tailoring is the Armani way, and for Spring Giorgio delivered just that - with a bit of harlequin romance. With a mellow palette consisting of greys, beiges, and black along with navy and green, the languid summers of southern Italy were the designer's inspiration this season.

For day, there's loose draping, sheer fabrics and asymmetrical cuts, with sporty touches like tank tops and nautical stripes. But it doesn't stop there. Beading and prints are mixed to create interesting textures and unique wide belts serve as a buffers breaking up the contrasting ideas. The questionable items were cropped trousers with ties on the sides as well as a genie-esque jumpsuit. I actually quite like the former, thinking they are super laid back luxe. Evening, always a strong suit of Armani, wasn't show stopping, but lovely beaded gowns of dark and light were bellissima.
