French Vogue Inspires Us to Take a Second Look at Headbands

We're a little wary of headbands here, stemming way back to painful middle school pictures that included giant, sequined, pink, bow-topped things. We've watched the headband return (this time hippie-style) atop the head like a crown. We said no. Then Malgosia Bela appears in a gorgeous editorial for French Vogue, edited by none other than Emmanuelle Alt, and we think: is it time to give headbands a second chance? Also, we're heading to Coachella soon, the base camp for all things hippie and headbanded - shall we incorporate them into our festival outfits?

Not many men stand out as having style, and substance, to me. At the top of my menswear appreciation list is Johnny Depp. Jimi Hendrix is not far behind. He was intense, immensely talented, and fringe-tastic. Before the days of music video, we could live our Jimi fantasies through live performances - I think it's the best way to admire his form, anyway. Here he is, in said fringe-tastic white leather jacket, rockin' the way only he does. The red 'fro sash is a singular sensation. Blazing.

Oh, what I would give to travel back to the '60s and be a fly on the wall when Anita Pallenberg, once common-law wife of Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, ruled the rock 'n roll scene. It was a largely male-dominated industry, yet Anita had a unique musical influence over the band.

Born on January 25, 1946 in Rome, Italy, Anita was a model, actress, and has more recently become a fashion designer. But nothing makes her more well-known than her non-musical connection to the Stones. Besides having three children with Keith, Anita was romantically involved with band member Brian Jones, and also rumored to have hooked up with Mick Jagger. Given Anita's wild ways, I wouldn't be surprised.

While Anita's partying ways are intriguing, I'm more drawn to her unfussy boho style. Before the Siennas and the Kates (she's actually friends with Kate), Anita epitomized the hippie-chic style. Everything we wear now, she's already worn: stacked bangles, fur coats, gladiator sandals, wide belts . . . Because of her sass, courage, and style, she carved herself a place in the world. And what a rockin' place!

I combined my favorite hippie coffee table books, an antique frame, candles, and a found antler to create one of my favorite parts of my home - this little vintage-inspired vignette. I bought the daffodils from Trader Joe's for like $1 a bunch. Blooms make a big difference!

Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman Swing by Colbert Ahead of a Dinner Date

Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman were hand-in-hand as they left The Colbert Report's studios in NYC last night. Yesterday's episode of the show featured Drew talking to Stephen Colbert about her whale-saving movie Big Miracle, and she described her character in the movie as "a tight-a*s hippie." Following the taping, Drew and Will headed up to Harlem to meet friends for dinner at Rao's. The meal came at the end of a long press week for Drew that included a jaunt to Washington DC for a special premiere of the film. The publicity duties have contributed to Drew not yet starting to plan her and Will's wedding. During a stop by Good Morning America, Drew said she and Will are still in the "daydreaming" phase of their big day.
