Fab Finding Follow-Up: Whale Tour

Guess what? I'm going whale watching. It will be my first whale tour experience, so I want come well-prepared and ready for my first gray and humpback whale sightings. The five-hour tour takes place in the Farallon Islands, so I asked you help me put together a functional yet fun outfit.

I started you off with this cuddly soft Zucca Tube Scarf ($148) because baby, it's cold outside. Let's see what you came up with!

The Rainy Day Solution: Hunter Wellies!

I'm always on the lookout for cute rain boots. Check out dany92's awesome find in our Fashion Passion group.

The leaves are starting to change colors, an umbrella is becoming your new best friend, and your nice suede moccasin boots start to feel the abuse - what's the fashionable solution? Hunter Gum boots! These boots are sleek, chic and don’t really look like wellies. You can without a doubt, wear them with your favorite pair of jeans, tucked in, and they will have a very urban, I am going hunting with Prince Charles this afternoon look. To be totally honest, Hunter boots are the real deal, the Rolls Royce of wellies - and they come in a cute, fun array of colors. My favorites? The pink pair and the black – so classy and versatile. I could possibly go for the timeless black, forest green, or navy option, although all the colors are Fab. Hard to make up my mind . . . If Kate Moss can rock these boots and get rave reviews in Vogue, I'm sure any fashion-conscious girl can pull these off.

Most people hate the rain, but not sosupersam. The LA cutie welcomed the inclement weather in a stylish, splash-proof outfit. The green anorak is beyond rad and I fancy her cozy, oversized tube scarf. Like Bilson, she kept her toes dry in a pair of black Hunter wellies - smart!

A little bit of rain didn't scare Rachel Bilson from heading out for some breakfast in LA. Everyone's gotta eat, right? To fend off the raindrops, the actress donned a cozy, rain-proof outfit consisting of a khaki trench, white tee, oatmeal cardi, skinny jeans, and Jimmy Choo for Hunter rain boots. For accessories, she donned her favorite bag-of-the-moment: a Phillip Lim studded bow bag. Functional, yet totally cute.

The sight of a bald woman usually makes people wonder. Who can forget the notorious Sinead O'Connor and her defiant antics? But what about a bald musical artist who morphs into a polar bear? While women in a lot of cultures are traditionally seen as feminine and attractive when they have long, flowing hair, there's something to be said for high-tech baldness - in this case, the result of more than three months of post-production. Not only is this song amazing, but the video is transfixing - if you can see past the balder-than-bald Bjork. Like Marc Jacobs' Spring '08 collection, Bjork is an acquired taste, but if you're willing, watch "Hunter."

Designer Spotlight: Vian Hunter

I was introduced to the clothing of Bay Area designer Lisa Vian Hunter at San Francisco Fashion Week over the weekend. Hunter got her degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and has been a fan of the fashion world for over 20 years. In 2003, she started custom designing clothing for Bay Area clients and in 2006, she opened her first boutique in Palo Alto, California.

Vian Hunter clothes are made of European fabrics and reflect the 50s, 60s and 70s. They manage to retain a modernity that translates well on the streets. Prices range from $250 to $825 for a dress to $95 to $365 for a top. Contact the designer for more information on where to purchase.
