She went for an element of surprise with each of her LWD outfits this past weekend, opting for bold shoes instead of something more subtle. For the Glee 3D Concert movie premiere, Jayma wore an ethereal, ivory J. Mendel dress that would be pretty enough for a beach wedding, but toughened it up with strappy black platform heels. At a Fox All-Star party, Jayma chose a fitted, short-sleeve Pamella Roland sheath dress that would have been perfect for a weekend brunch if paired with nude flats. Trend Alert: Ombre

Ombre is beginning to rear its pretty head and while it feels very warm-weathery, I'm already seeking a new ombre addition. I'm still on the fence though - some of these items are dope, while some of them are dull. Here's the dilemma: It's a trendy motif, but only looks good on fine fabrics. Case in point: ombred fur at J. Mendel's Spring '08 show (pictured). Thus, one should seek out an ombre that looks expensive but doesn't break the bank. Ah, the trials and tribulations of fashion . . .

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: J. Mendel

In the words of a fellow Sugar girl: "woweeee." J. Mendel delivered a undeniably gorgeous and feminine red carpet-worthy collection. If you have a soft spot for luxurious, flowing gowns - look no further. But before I go on about the gowns - where was the house's trademark material: fur? I know fur isn't very Spring-y but there were a only a couple occurrences. I wonder if Mendel was easing off the fur for political reasons?

Resuming...strutting to the disco beats of empowering Donna Summer, the early part of the collection showed some nice, crisp separates, but the latter part stole my attention. Soft pleats, fine chiffon, soft silk and goddess details like the one shoulder and ruching made for fabulous fashion. The devils advocate may argue it was a bit redundant, but when Mendel does a dress it is anything but typical. My only beef: those rosettes. Gag me with a spoon!
