Newlywed Katherine Heigl went furniture shopping in LA yesterday looking casual yet stylish. I admire that instead of throwing on sweats like so many stars, she chose a teal Marc by Marc Jacobs ruffle blouse, a Jimmy Choo bag, and Tory Burch leopard flats. Her sunnies are a little ill fitting, but I'll get over it because I'm digging the jewel tones in her outfit.

Jewel tones are one of the greatest things to happen in fashion in a long time. The rich burst of color they provide is nothing short of amazing. Take these Banana Republic Silk Clutches ($50 each).

Canary diamond, ruby, sapphire, and amethyst all showed up on the red carpet tonight, but not just in jewelry form! These ladies accessorized their ice with bold, jewel-toned gowns: Felicity Huffman and Julie Louis-Dreyfus went with a lovely shade of purple, while Portia, Ellen, and America chose hues of blues. Ali Larter looked fantastic in ruby red and Minnie Driver pulled off canary diamond perfectly.

Living in SF, I'm about all about layering. That's where cozy sweater coats come in handy. The recent influx of Aztec, Nordic, and Navajo prints have me in a fashion tizzy — I think I need one of each.

Complexity versus ease: That's what CRHEE's Spring/Summer '10 collection explores. Luxurious silk fabrics are used in bold jewel tones and rhythmic prints — the result is dark romance, light sensuality. This season, designer Christine Rhee was inspired by everything from the photography of Guy Bordin, David Fincher videos, to muses Diana Ross and Diane von Furstenberg.

Madison Marcus's Fall '09 collection has me crushin' like the ninth grade – you know what I mean. For the cold months ahead, the brand is keeping us warm with a supply of tweed skirts, shimmering cardigans, tailored pants, silk tops, and vintage-inspired frocks. I'm smitten with the '20s influence via intricate beading details and floaty shapes, but notice how the line evokes youthfulness through a fun, jewel-toned palette.

You know Fab's in a Fall state of mind when my most wanted go from neon and skin-baring to jewel-toned and cozy. Though I will be holding off on wearing tights for as long as possible, I already have my sights set on some slouchy boots, amazing bags, festive jewelry, and sexy separates. Whether you're going back to cool or back to the grind, do so in fabulous style.
