Before this, I didn't know there were degrees of being matchy matchy. Kate Hudson took the concept to a whole new level at a recent D&G party. I know that grey is a prevalent color right now, but that doesn't mean you have to wear it head to toe, literally.

The top half of Kate's outfit is quite lovely. It's only when you look down that you cringe. The satin and suede combination kills the look, because as we Fabazons know, fabrics are of utmost importance. If I were Kate, I'd pair the jeweled neck blouse with a black mini skirt, bare legs, and a hot pair of pumps.

Critics' Choice Awards: Charlize Theron

Has Charlize Theron ever gotten it wrong? Not that we can remember. The Young Adult star walked the gray carpet in a black, floor-length gown from Azzedine Alaïa's Fall 2011 collection - the gown featured some beautiful details, like a tiered hem and feminine scalloping at the neck. To show off the intricacy of the dress, Charlize kept her hair slicked back, with a pretty braided bun on one side. She kept her makeup minimal, as well as her accessories, opting for a black box clutch and a jeweled ring. Do you love Charlize's look?

The retro-inspired hair trend is a popular one for Fall, and this week in particular, we spotted three gorgeous stars sporting vintage styles on the red carpet. Kirsten Dunst paired her tie-neck dress with a simple bun and dramatic side-sweeping bangs, while fellow short-haired star Ashley Judd adorned her '20s-style finger waves with a jeweled barrette. At the Footloose premiere in LA, Julianne Hough left her blond locks long and loose, wearing romantic waves and a deep side part. All three ladies look glamorous and retro-chic, but which one is your favorite?

Queue Up Some Quatrefoil

Quatrefoil is an ornamental design with four rounded lobes or leaves, resembling a flower or four-leaf clover, which has been used in architectural stonework throughout history. Thanks in much part to French jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels' Alhambra collection, the motif has become quite a coveted and trendy one. But around the necks of the proseperous isn't the only place you'll find it: quatrefoil has made its way onto vibrant modern throw pillows, pastoral wooden side tables, rustic mirrors, and quaint dinnerware. One of my favorite designs is the John Rosselli Baltic Lantern ($630), an elegant, gilded light fixture that's just begging to be hung in my foyer. Princess Charlene and Prince Albert Have a Ball Together in Monaco

Prince Albert escorted his beautiful new bride, Princess Charlene of Monaco, to tonight's 63rd annual Red Cross Ball in their home of Monte Carlo. The princess stepped out in a jewel-toned Akris gown, which was a stark contrast to the classic white Armani dress she wore just last month during their lavish royal wedding. Charlene kept her hair pulled back and makeup simple to complement the stunning custom-made Van Cleef & Arpels piece she wore around her neck. The necklace was given to the princess as a gift from her husband and can also be worn as a tiara. It was reportedly designed to evoke memories of the ocean and is composed of 88 round diamonds, weighing in at over 44 total carats, with 10 pear-shaped diamonds and 359 sapphires!

Iman is never afraid to take fashion risks, and tonight proved no different. The supermodel chose to wear a shimmering gold sequined Stella McCartney jumpsuit cinched in with a black jeweled belt. A deep v-neck adds a sexy touch, which is amped up with big curls, smokey eyes, and a bronze makeup palette. A standout look, but are you loving it?

Diane Kruger has an intuitive talent for keeping her red-carpet look fresh. With Spring right around the corner, she went for a floaty Vionnet halter dress that looks light and bright. The ivory creponne silk is anchored with a bakelite chain on the waist and a jeweled rope neck. Diane was smart to keep jewelry to a minimum, forgoing earrings in favor of the smallest bracelet and a subtle ring. 2011 Fall Paris Fashion Week: Elie Saab

Elie Saab, a favorite of high-wattage celebs like Halle Berry, showed a polished collection of daywear before wowing us with his evening dresses. It seemed designed to appeal to a wide variety of ladies - there were skinny pants and tunics for the minimalist, peplum jackets for the retro feminine gal, and draped jersey cocktail dresses for the '70s fan. Even the colors were varied; rather than sticking to a neutral palette or all jewel tones, he balanced it out. The evening dresses were sleek, cut close to the body with draping and ruching, and the red-carpet looks were delivered beaded, and even some with thigh-high slits up the leg. Overall it was a crowd-pleaser, full of pretty clothes for pretty women.

Trends: Ladylike polish, peplum, minimalism.
Colors: Siren red, neutrals, burgundy, black, nude.
Key Looks: The sparkly beaded evening gowns.
Accessories: Belts on dresses, cool minimalist cuff neck pieces.

2011 Fall Milan Fashion Week: Gucci

Hello, color! Frida Giannini kicked off Milan Fashion Week with a luxurious take on the '70s and delivered it in eye-popping technicolor. Teal, emerald green, sapphire blue, red, and chartreuse brought new life to furs, suede, and snakeskin. The ladylike silhouettes - skirtsuits, wide-leg trousers with sweaters, tie-neck blouses, halter dresses - were immensely wearable, yet the color combos, like olive green with cerulean blue and purple with teal, gave everything a cheeky sense of indulgence. The Gucci woman does not hide from color, even in a season that calls for blacks and grays. In a total repudiation of Fall and Winter's organic darkness, the finale dresses were frothy, sheer, and wrought with a dense floral applique that made models like Joan Smalls and Abbey Lee Kershaw look like they were in full springtime bloom. Magazines will have a field day shooting this collection.

Trends: Jewel-toned color, fur, '70s, wide-leg trousers, sheer.
Colors: Teal, cerulean blue, sapphire, emerald, magenta, garnet, pink, purple.
