Zac Posen drew influence from the Far East for Fall '12, showing off gorgeous dresses and gowns punctuated with Asian-inspired details. Specifically, it was about Chinoiserie and Japanese influences; fitted sheaths, gowns, and skirt suits were embellished with origami pleating, kimono sleeves, and obi sashes. Meanwhile, Chinese-inspired heavy silk floral patterns were used to create fitted sheath dresses and evening jackets. The main attraction of the evening was Zac's red carpet-worthy evening dresses. There were dramatic fitted mermaid gowns with seamed details and more pared down renditions, made in dove gray and light blush hues featuring intricate origami detailing on the back. The only question that remains is which red-carpet beauty will pick up one of Posen's creations for the Oscars?

Rest assured, this collection is free of over-the-top Bollywood clichés, instead offering up imperial references in its homage to Bombay. While it highlights Chanel's expertise - suiting, ladylike dressing, rich texture, and layers of pretty pearls - it all marries perfectly with a beautiful departure to a more exotic aesthetic. Revealing that "most of the inspiration is from Indian men’s clothes rather than women’s clothes," Lagerfeld's parade of dresses and skirts over pants, gold-embroidered tunics, beaded sandals, and flat booties speaks both to bohemian decadence and wearability.

For Spring '12, Giambattista Valli showcased a collection fit for parties and red carpet appearances. Fancy sheath dresses were the focal point in his collection, adorned with metallic embroidery and jeweled details. Texture also came into play via white fringe - made to look almost like fur, but without the weight - churned into chic bohemian vests and embellished on dresses. The same technique was utilized in splashy zebra prints and a colorful pink and red jacket. There was already a bright buzz before the Diesel Black Gold Spring show even started thanks to a celebrity appearance from Gerard Butler. As Gerard sauntered up to his front-row seat, photographers and guests went crazy just for a glimpse of the actor, who arrived at the event wearing a pair of broken-in Diesel jeans and a t-shirt. The excitement didn't stop there: Creative Director Sophia Kokosalaki showed an equally standout collection for the brand, offering up a heavy helping of high sheen and utilitarian details. Jewel-toned metallics hit the runway in the way of fit and flared jeans and leather jackets while Bermuda short silhouettes added a refreshing twist to the urban collection. We especially loved the track shorts, which were paired with crisp button-down shirts, tailored blazers, and cool cutout booties playing into the menswear vibe.
