John Galliano is expanding his diffusion line. For Fall, there are over 100 styles — bags, small leather goods, belts, luggage, and trolleys. Prints (like the black and white gazette one on the left) and appliqués keep things interesting, as do materials like faux oilskin leathers and calfskin.

If you think you were busy this year, wait until you see how many designers expanded their businesses in 2008. Hint: It took me a crazy long time to round them all up. Majors like Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney added more to their plates, as did smaller brands such as Members Only and Paige Denim.

John Galliano continues to turn talisman with his 2009 Spring Couture collection for Christian Dior. Tending to a fully packed house, the designer showed a collection filled with whimsy and Victorian influences. Billowing layers of silk taffeta were curled, ruched, and swirled to create a decadent collection of frocks.

Last night, as I was covering the 2009 Oscars red carpet, I got déjà vu. Out walked Heidi Klum in her red Roland Mouret number — and blam — flashback to her Oscars look last year. Of course, the silhouette of the dress was entirely different, but it exuded the same futuristic aura and was the same fiery red color.

For Christian Dior's Spring '09 campaign, John Galliano chose Super Gisele Bündchen to show off his sexy collection. The ad, shot by Craig McDean, depicts Gisele wearing a modern macrame LBD and killer heels. I like how she works it for the camera in a complicated yet cunning pose.

There are only a few designers who can make a sombrero chic. John Galliano is one of the few. His cruise Dior collection referenced '60s tropics — something Galliano quite fancies.

The couture shows have begun in Paris. Now that we've seen the relaxed resort collections, I'm ready for drama, drama, and more drama. John Galliano's theatrics touched every aspect of his production: the clothes, the shoes, the makeup, the models, the celebrities.
