John Galliano is expanding his diffusion line. For Fall, there are over 100 styles - bags, small leather goods, belts, luggage, and trolleys. Prints (like the black and white gazette one on the left) and appliqués keep things interesting, as do materials like faux oilskin leathers and calfskin. Wholesale prices range from $117 to $292. You can find Galliano's accessories at one of the 75 worldwide Plus IT stores, as well as department stores.

If you think you were busy this year, wait until you see how many designers expanded their businesses in 2008. Hint: It took me a crazy long time to round them all up. Majors like Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney added more to their plates, as did smaller brands such as Members Only and Paige Denim. From jewelry and shoes to entire contemporary lines, these companies did what they could to boom their business.

2009 Spring Couture: Christian Dior

John Galliano continues to turn talisman with his 2009 Spring Couture collection for Christian Dior. Tending to a fully packed house, the designer showed a collection filled with whimsy and Victorian influences. Billowing layers of silk taffeta were curled, ruched, and swirled to create a decadent collection of frocks. I like how Galliano played with hemlines, cutting some short at the knee and leaving some long enough to grace the floor. My favorites were the dresses that incorporated both sides of the spectrum.

Another recurring theme was the abundance of shoulder pouf. Here, he embellished with sheer, puffy organza and intricate floral designs - some of them looked like wallpaper Marie Antoinette herself would have chosen. For accessories, the designer adorned his models in equally gregarious silk hats worn over pouffy hair and dramatic makeup. Amazing, simply amazing.

Compare & Contrast: Heidi Klum, Oscar's Lady in Red

Last night, as I was covering the 2009 Oscars red carpet, I got déjà vu. Out walked Heidi Klum in her red Roland Mouret number - and blam - flashback to her Oscars look last year. Of course, the silhouette of the dress was entirely different, but it exuded the same futuristic aura and was the same fiery red color. And, her jewels were pink again! Let's dissect Heidi's 2008 and 2009 Oscars looks shall we?

Dress: John Galliano made sure Heidi stood out on the '08 Oscars red carpet in this red, larger-than-life Dior gown. There is nothing shy about it - it's as red as red gets, has a huge collar, long side trains, and futuristic vibe. Oh, and Heidi chose red to benefit women's heart health.

Jewelry: It's apparent the Super loves the combination of red and pink. In 2008, her pink jewels from her own line complemented her red gown to a tee. She donned dramatic red and pink drop earrings, matching bracelets, and a red and pink ring.

Dress: Heidi went down the same red path this year by wearing a red dress in honor of her Diet Coke Heart Healthy campaign. Roland Mouret created this frock, which is not as voluminous, but just as in-your-face and futuristic. It also has a heavy sheen. Once again, the collar is the focus, but the skirt is equally attention-grabbing.

Jewelry: Red and pink it is again. Heidi chose to further sass up her red dress with light pink accessories. Like last year, the earrings were the focus, but stacked bangles and rings were also lavishly loud.

Fab Ad: Christian Dior Spring '09

For Christian Dior's Spring '09 campaign, John Galliano chose Super Gisele Bündchen to show off his sexy collection. The ad, shot by Craig McDean, depicts Gisele wearing a modern macrame LBD and killer heels. I like how she works it for the camera in a complicated yet cunning pose. The tribal accessories and beige backdrop make Gisele stand out like an amazing, Amazonian queen. However, I have qualms about those short bangs - yikes. What do you think of this ad?

Cruise 2009: Christian Dior

There are only a few designers who can make a sombrero chic. John Galliano is one of the few. His cruise Dior collection referenced '60s tropics - something Galliano quite fancies. And what's not to love? Tunics, capri pants, perfect suits, psychedelic prints, silk shantung, oversized costume jewelry. Oh, and fabulously chic sombreros. All of the above arriving in Starburst colors.

As for the accessories, they had just as much splendor. Platform wedges and destined-to-be-the-next-It-bag Dior hobos were fanciful and colorful. You can tell Galliano has fun with his cruise collections. And why shouldn't he: Cruises are super fun, so I hear.

2008 Fall Couture: Christian Dior

The couture shows have begun in Paris. Now that we've seen the relaxed resort collections, I'm ready for drama, drama, and more drama. John Galliano's theatrics touched every aspect of his production: the clothes, the shoes, the makeup, the models, the celebrities. While last year brought bright, bold hues such as red, purple, and fuchsia, this year's palette was rather tame in comparison.
Pastel pinks, greens, yellows, and lilacs made their way onto ever-dramatic silhouettes. Origami shapes, crochet, ruffles, tulle, pleats, chiffon, and sequins are all part of this year's outstanding couture cast. While the colors are subdued, the footwear is anything but. Feminine clothes are contrasted by dangerous caged platforms with metallic triangle heels. Another fitting accessory is a '20s-style cloche hat in leopard, leather, and studs. As well, protruding corset belts have taken on new meanings. Be mistaken not; this collection may utilize pastels, but it's not fit for the chipper Church-goer. Nay.
