Fab Ad: Gap Design Editions, Summer '09

I was on the fence when I first peeped Gap's latest Design Editions team-up, but seeing its ad campaign has changed my outlook. Shot by Craig McDean, the shots feature models Raquel Zimmerman, Anna Jagodzinska, Arlenis Sosa, and Coco Rocha wearing khaki collaborations from Alexander Wang, Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, and Albertus Swanepoel. I love the fun, no-fuss fashion angle and the clothes - which retail between $40 - $88 - look cute and wearable.

The plain background allows the cool khaki creations and models' bright faces to take the forefront. Also, notice how each designer is posing alongside his/her designs. That way, we know who designed each item. Effective yet simple. What do you think?

Look of the Day: Tribal Princess

A fuzzy picture doesn't stop me from recognizing style. I've got to give props to jsutt for taking her picture off of a window reflection. She looks like a beautiful tribal princess in her custom-made dress and chunky wooden necklace. Where can I get one of those?

Trend Alert: Highlight Your Khakis

Don't you love how neon highlighters instantly liven up a boring textbook? Oh, I guess they help you study, too. The same idea goes for fashion. Highlight your khakis with brightly colored separates and you'll be rewarded with admiring glances. Try this look with a khaki skirt or pants. I prefer to keep the bottoms neutral with a spicy shirt but feel free to mix it up like Jenni Kayne did (left), in her 2009 Resort collection.

I've been on a mad hunt to find some cool khaki pieces that can offset my neon tops. I was thrilled when I stopped into my local Old Navy and found this Old Navy Khaki Linen Mini Skirt ($10, originally $25). If you're in the same predicament, I highly recommend this piece. It looks especially hot with bright yellow and heather grey.
