While the women of Lipstick Jungle continue to juggle their fabulous lives, they do so in smart dresses, pared down basics, costume jewelry, and high heels. Yep, sounds like the powerful New York women I know. We're starting to see a very casual Wendy, due to her newfound unemployment, while Nico and Victory always looks stellar - and colorful! Here are the three beauties smiling for the camera, say cheese.

Battle of the Chanel: Raver vs. Joel

When dreaming about Chanel, my dreams are black and white. And so, Lipstick Jungle's Kim Raver and burger expert, Katie Lee Joel, present the perfect Chanel face off. Kim wore a frilly and bowed LBD with signature Chanel pearl necklaces, while Katie wore a spectacular white beaded number and monochrome accessories. Kim agreed it was a classic frock: "I love the combination of the flowy ethereal feeling, but also the really classic chic Chanel." Both ladylike, but who's do you adore more?

Drama is already heavy on the second season of Lipstick Jungle - as is the fashion. Nico isn't letting some major betrayal mess with her style sense. Quite the contrary; she is looking damn fine in colorful frocks and sensual separates. Victory is adorable as always with her growing business and festive prints. To each style her own, these women are owning their dramadies and their wardrobes.

I Want This Wardrobe: Lipstick Jungle

Though I wasn't that into it last season, I think I'm going to give Lipstick Jungle another whirl this Fall. I adore each of the three women - especially after meeting Lindsay Price - and their clothes are subtly fabulous. While plots already developed on the season opener, I was transfixed by Victory's (Lindsay's character) quirky wardrobe and Nico (love that name) was adorned by some fabulous costume jewelry. Lipstick's style is more grown-up and classic than Gossip Girl, but it has Fab potential.

Who Wore It Better? Blue Versace Goddess Dress

Back when Barneys was launching its Versace menswear collection, Leighton Meester showed up in a blue Versace goddess dress. She decided to go matchy matchy with the accessories, pairing white pumps and a white clutch. Actress Kim Raver wore the same dress to CW's upfront presentation in NYC and kept her accessories to a bare minimum. This is a toughie because they present two extremes - matchy matchy and minimal. So who wins your vote?

It's a Lipstick Jungle Out There!

There's a new fashion-forward clique in TV town and I'm happy to welcome them and their fabulous wardrobes to the neighborhood. Lipstick Jungle, starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price, showcases much more realistic fashions than its competition, Cashmere Mafia. But don't mistake realism for boring. These ladies love their Jimmy Choo bags, leopard Louboutins, power suits, hip outerwear, and colorful accessories. Best of all? Only a few belts in sight!

In a conference call with reporters recently, executive producer Candace Bushnell and actress Brooke Shields gabbed about the show's fashions.

On the show's wardrobe:
Shields: "It is undeniably a high fashion show. But what I think makes it more accessible is that nothing in it is prohibitive. Nothing in it has a cartoon aspect to it where you couldn’t feasibly think that you could wear that yourself. . . . I think that they look amazing and I think that it’s comfortable on them. But you'll see them before you see the fashion. But then if you take a closer look you’ll realize it is a Louboutin shoe and it is a Chanel jacket, and it is a Dior outfit or a suit."

Bushnell: "I think that the fashion is definitely important in the show. We have a stylist (Amanda Ross), who works for fashion magazines. And I think we’ve tried to keep the clothes real, very elegant."

On Brooke Shields's character's wardrobe:
Shields: "From the character’s standpoint, I don’t think that Wendy was as naturally fashionable. I think her two very obviously fashionable friends have had an effect on her. I think they’ve gone to her closet and they’ve weeded out, and made sure that she couldn’t make any mistakes. And that they sort of helped her along in the fashion world."

On Shields's opinion of the wardrobe
Shields: "I am infatuated with the clothes on the show. I would love to pretend that I really lived like that. It comes very naturally to these characters and I need a bit more help. I think that the minute I sort of don certain costumes, I shouldn’t say, but the wardrobe that Wendy gets to wear, there is a sense of power in it and a sense of strength."

If Gossip Girl is all about head gear, and Cashmere Mafia is all about belts, then Candace Bushnell's latest project, Lipstick Jungle, is all about the handbags. I'll take that! Though the series doesn't begin until Feb. 7, here's a small clip that can help you decide if you want to add it to your TiVo list. Unlike Sex and the City, there are only three Fab women in Lipstick Jungle: Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price. Other than the plethora of power purses, you'll also be treated to Old Hollywood glamor, frilly femininity, polished chic, high heels, and leopard. Watch and see if you'll take Wendy, Nico, and Victory as your new BFFs!

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Max Azria

When I spoke to Max Azria, who was Taylor Momsen's date to Fashion Rocks, he said his Max Azria Spring collection was going to be "sexy." Let's see. Whisper light jerseys, deep v-necks and backs, asymmetrical ruching, and dramatic drapes. Sexy.With a very pretty front row, sprinkled with ladies like Kim Raver, Malin Ackerman, and Michelle Tractenberg, the pared-down silhouettes let sensuality shine through. The neutrals - normally a bore to me - were delicate and refined. We eased into a deeper seagreen, and eventually black, navy, and plum. These last hues were stunning; the silk and rayon jersey dresses had dramatic plunges and peek-a-boo cuts - not for the fashion faint. There was a delicious beige leather jacket, a surprisingly wearable crepe one-shoulder jumpsuit, and architectural vests, so it wasn't all sex and games. A surprising utilitarian nylon cross strap fanny pack was questionable, but it's excusable: the "sexy" dresses were seriously Fab.

SAG Awards Red Carpet: Strapless & Belted

Belts have been around for several seasons now, and it was interesting to see them surface on the SAG Awards Red Carpet. I clearly remember the black belt from Cameron's Golden Globes Valentino gown, and while hers was one shouldered, the belted dresses last night were all strapless. When this look is short, it is rather 80s, especially Sara Ramirez's turquoise party dress. When this look is long, it can be very elegant and sophisticated, case in point: Kim Raver's Kevan Hall pleated gown.
