Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2012

There was an ease to Maison Martin Margiela for Fall 2012, and even though the house promoted some interesting ideas - maxi skirt sliced halfway off, anyone? - the majority of the collection was filled with softly tailored separates and outerwear that had a clean, classic timelessness to it. But first, those interesting ideas: turtlenecks that covered models' faces, and dresses and skirts that looked like someone took scissors to a kimono and then stitched it all back together. It still managed to feel clean and precise, perhaps another reference to Japan.

Trends: menswear, kimono-inspired dressing, peplum, deconstruction, and monochromatic dressing.
Colors: black, white, red, camel, and brown.
Key Piece: The menswear-inspired overcoats.
Who Would Wear It: This is for the edgy girl who grows up and wants to look a bit more tailored, but not by mainstream standards - Kristen Stewart of the future.

Issa London Fall 2012

Issa showed off bold graphic prints against softer feminine silhouettes for Fall '12 - a perfect combination of bright and ladylike. Abstaining from customary Spring florals, Issa opted for two distinctly different designs: a 1960s-inspired paisley pattern and a Far Eastern-influenced screen print. The colorful prints took shape in kimono-style caftans, knot-cinched dresses, tunic-and-trouser combos, and jumpsuits – all of which had a totally wearable retro-fun vibe. In addition, we spotted an emerald green, Kate Middleton-worthy wrap dress and a funkier fur-enhanced, cap-sleeved frock that were just begging to be added to our Fall must-haves list. While Issa maintained its casual, eclectic feel, the collection, as a whole, gave us even more reason to believe that the dress-over-pants trend is coming back, the resurgence of opera-length gloves is real, and Asian-inspired silhouettes are here to stay. Zac Posen Fall 2012

Zac Posen drew influence from the Far East for Fall '12, showing off gorgeous dresses and gowns punctuated with Asian-inspired details. Specifically, it was about Chinoiserie and Japanese influences; fitted sheaths, gowns, and skirt suits were embellished with origami pleating, kimono sleeves, and obi sashes. Meanwhile, Chinese-inspired heavy silk floral patterns were used to create fitted sheath dresses and evening jackets. The main attraction of the evening was Zac's red carpet-worthy evening dresses. There were dramatic fitted mermaid gowns with seamed details and more pared down renditions, made in dove gray and light blush hues featuring intricate origami detailing on the back. The only question that remains is which red-carpet beauty will pick up one of Posen's creations for the Oscars?

Colors: Forest green, dove gray, red, black, light blush, pale yellow.

Gwen, Zuma, and Kingston Play in the Dirt and Pick Their Own Produce

Gwen Stefani took Zuma and Kingston Rossdale on a mini adventure to Moorpark's Underwood Family Farm Saturday afternoon to pick fruits and vegetables. Despite the gloomy weather and a broken arm Zuma didn't let that stop him from joining in the fun. Gwen dressed down in a pea coat and trousers, but for her Harajuku-inspired tea party fundraiser earlier this month she chose an over the top hairstyle and sexy kimono-inspired romper. Gwen's philanthropic efforts raised more than $120,000 for Japan relief and to thank the donors Gwen and the members of No Doubt treated the guests to a surprise concert. She and her band have an album in the works, and Gwen says she's done with her solo career and wants to focus her efforts on collaborating with the group, fashion, and her family.
