Not many celebrities busted out non floor-grazing frocks this year at the Emmys but the ones who did worked it well. This time, shorter hemlines ranged from sassy knee length to retro ankle skimming heights. All of these ladies look distinctive, but which look was your favorite?

2008 Emmy Awards Trend Alert: Dripping With Beading

Lavishly beaded dresses are no strangers to the red carpet. Nevertheless, their gorgeousness paid us many visits at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards. Whether on neutral, black, or white dresses, sparkly beads and crystals made the carpet a much more luminous place tonight. Case in point: Kyra Sedgwick in L'Wren Scott (left). Without the bead detailing, the dress would simply be a plain white dress. Gasp! Beading also appeared on asymmetrical straps, cap sleeves, trains, and sprinkled all over. See who else was dripping with beading.

Designer L'Wren Scott made this white number for actress Kyra Sedgwick. Short frocks are catching my eye at this year's Emmys. The sequined detail around the bodice and straps saves it from being too plain. Silver sandals, a gunmetal clutch, and diamond stud earrings also lend fanciness. How do you feel about it?

Here is my second favorite part of any red carpet show down: Letting you all decide who was the best dressed of the night. These final six were narrowed down by your votes and I tell ya, this is a toughie. We concluded that because the Golden Globes were a no-go, ladies decided to strut their stuff in high style for the SAGs. Boy did they ever. But do you see a theme here? Call me crazy but I like Kyra's Oscar de la Renta frock she wore to the Critics' Choice Awards last night. I like drama on the red carpet and Kyra delivered just that. The shoes are questionable, but can you really ever go wrong with Oscar?

How Would YOU Wear It? Kyra Sedgwick

You've heard me go on and on about the menswear trend. When done right, it can make a girl look confident and fashion forward. When done incorrectly, per Kyra Sedgwick, it becomes a fashion train wreck. She simply has too much going on in her androgynous look. What she needed to do was pick one masculine item and keep the rest feminine.

If I were Kyra, I would have ditched that cheap-looking corset top, as it distracts the pretty blouse underneath. I would have opted for black or dark denim wide-leg trousers instead of shorts because the latter makes her look childish. I dig the patent oxfords so I'd keep those.
