Come one, come all to the fantasy land of Christian Lacroix for La Redoute. If you enjoyed his RTW Fall collection ads, get a load of this! This is one of the coolest fashion websites I've gotten distracted on in a long time, but more importantly, the French couturier is taking a stab at affordable luxury. Keeping it all in the French family, he has teamed up with mail order company La Redoute to bring us some frilly fashion and homewares extraordinaire. Some items featured in the Alice in Wonderland-esque online fantasy world, featuring model Lily Cole, are already available to purchase online. I think that red ruffled coat and the leather slouchy booties are très magnifique!

Plissé

n. Fabric with puckered surface created in the finishing process. Could be made from any fine material, like organdy, lawn, etc. Treated with a caustic soda solution which shrinks parts of the goods either all over or in stripes giving a blistered effect. Similar to seersucker in appearance. French, from past participle of plisser, "to pleat."

Deux for the Price of One at La Redoute

Since it's apparently one of the top online shopping destinations in France, I thought I'd check out La Redoute. After an hour of browsing, I left the site with almost $200 worth of purchases! Check out what I bought and see what you think.

This Rene Derhy Sweater & Shirt Duo was just $39.99. Great price for two pieces of clothing AND already matched! What more could you ask for?

I'm sure I don't need another raincoat, but I couldn't pass up this Unite Reversible Raincoat for $99.

This 2-in-1 Tie-front U-neck Sweater has the look of a tee and a cardigan combo for $29.99.

And I thought the Unite Merino Wool Scarf was a great buy for just $20. I don't think I'd pair it with the printed sweater in this photo, but I think it would be a great accent with a solid black sweater.

They might just start competing with that other amazing French retailer -- Tarzhay!

On Our Radar: Pierre Hardy Falls Into the Gap

French designer Pierre Hardy, whose bags are known for their contrasting piping and whose footwear is graced by unique designs, is set to design a collection for Gap. His pieces will first hit racks this Fall/Winter and will be succeeded by a more extensive Spring/Summer 2008 collection.

Pierre is no stranger to collaborations (he once designed pieces for La Redoute), so this partnership is a recipe for success!
