Fashion is sometimes about creating an illusion. openfan knows what I'm talking about. She doesn't know how to paint but that's not stopping her from looking like a hippie artist. I'm smitten with her moody floral skirt and patent oxfords. Quirky yet cool - could of fooled me!

Winslet is on fire. Just when we were talking about how we're so over Herve Leger dresses over here, Kate rocked one at The Reader premiere in NYC. Airbrushing, what? This Herve is less in-your-face because of the cool gunmetal color and the fact that Winslet is a classy babe. She elevated the look with gray satin Roger Vivier sandals and piled on the glitzy jewels. Hotness.

No, you haven't come across a How Would You Wear It? post. Since Tara Reid has been trying her best to look nice lately, I thought I'd commend her efforts by giving her a spot on Celebrity Style. You can never go wrong with Missoni, and her Louis Vuitton Damier adds a touch of class to her ensemble. This is one of the most flattering and sophisticated outfits we've seen her sport in a long time. Let's hope she keeps it up. For those times when you do want to debate whether you would or wouldn't wear an iffy piece a celeb is, check out this fun game!

The Look for Less: Gucci Silver Ankle Strap Sandal

I love the current trend of metallic sandals - they're just so, so space age. Naturally, I'd love to add these Gucci 'Romy' Ankle Strap Sandals, $550, to my growing shoe collection, but I'm afraid they'll go out of style sooner than I can say "fashion is fabulous." Lucky for moi, and all you other metallic-loving shoe freaks, there is a similar style for less than $100!

Though this Linea Paolo 'Mona' Sandal, $90, doesn't have the horsebit ring buckle, it still conveys the unique mod look. The silver color, the thickness of the ankle strap and low square heel are dead-on. Hopefully they won't become old news by the end of Spring, but if they do, you'll be happy to know you didn't blow over $500 on them!

Trend Alert: Platform Pumps

I couldn't be happier about all of the platform-style pumps that are trotting out for Fall 2006. Not only do these styles make your legs looks shapely and long, but they are also surprisingly easy to walk in, thanks to a thick heel and stacked toe bed. The glamorous, 1940s style looks great with dress pants, pencil skirts, and skinny jeans. I've rounded up some of my favorite platform pumps in both peep-toe and closed-toe styles.
