No doubt, the King of Pop (RIP) will be a popular choice for Halloween this year. Who doesn't want to emulate such saucy style and cool character? Channeling your inner Micheal Jackson requires androgynous dressing: a white tee, loose cropped trousers, a drummer jacket — local thrift stores are filled with treasures from this era.

Mossie sure knows how to make a statement with her feet; notice her black patent loafers. Kate in head-to-toe black in nothing new, but she ups the style ante with a double dose of shine and menswear charm. I wear my oxfords contrasted with a frilly dress, or torn up jeans, or you can do like Kate and don cropped pants for a sassy money look.

Zoom straight to the bottom half of Nicky Hilton's ensemble and check out her lofty loafers. These comfy yet curiously cool shoes have been redesigned for the hipster girl. I like how loafers give off a smart, Euro vibe; it must be that whole Johnny Depp thing.

I wasn't sure if the whole loafer trend was right for me, but I recently snagged a great deal on a pair at a thrift store. They're a beautiful camel color and surprisingly comfortable. Now, I have my eyes on these Yves Saint Laurent Loafer Pumps ($440).

I know lots of you are ahead of the fashion curve — you make me so proud. Daiane is already delving into a Fall footwear trend and is feeling the Oxford love. She's also experimenting with trousers and her monochrome look is unique and cool.

What I love about loafers is that though they are super comfortable, they give off this very put-together and classic vibe (see my red pair here). These Chloe Loafer Mocassins are on sale for $210 (originally $320), but they are still a tad pricey. And plus, why pay more when you can pay less?

I often find myself puzzled or appalled by Juicy Couture, but it's usually because the velour track suits and pom-pom-laden purses look better suited to preteens than grown women. This Juicy Couture Crepe Wedge Loafer, however, suffers from an entirely different problem. The stodgy brown leather, pebbled rubber, and old-school lacing make this shoe look more like something a grandmother would wear, minus the considerably high heel.

These loafer pumps are fast becoming a classic and they are a fun twist on the traditional office pump and loafer. They are nice because they let you have a little style in buttoned-up work environments, although not quite fun enough for an evening out.
Here are some of my picks:

I always appreciated Blossom Russo's haphazardly cool style. With partner in crime Six, the two ruled the early '90s in their funky floral hats, vests, crazy prints, and cool loafers. I especially adored Blossom's knack for wearing oversize blazers and mismatched outfits.
