I know I'm not the only one obsessed with Mad Men. Not only is the plot juicy, but so are the clothes. I've already checked out Banana Republic's inspired pieces, made my own stylish Mad (Wo)Men, and hopefully soon, I can get retro designs from Mad Men's costume designer, Janie Bryant! “I love fashion as it allows us each to express our creativity and I love capturing the essence of an era through costume design,” says Janie. “Now I am looking forward to bringing that retro style to today's wardrobes.” Launch details are TBD, but we do know Janie is set to design a modern '60s-inspired line of men’s and women’s apparel, lingerie, swimwear, home, footwear and accessories. It's a mad, mad world . . .

I just had a thrilling eight minutes - I created my very own stylish Mad (Wo)Men. Meet Sabrina, with Don, in a dark bar (scandal!), in a vixen red sheath, layered necklaces (so Fab), black pumps and gloves, navy clutch, and juicy red lips. Watch out Joan, there's a new sass kitten in town. You too can experience the thrill at MadMenYourself.com. You can create your own avatar and download images for Twitter, Facebook, your iPhone - all the good stuff. I wasn't able to catch the premiere Sunday night - what did you think? - but this helped tide me over. Though I'm not a dark redhead, I felt the show needed one, as well a woman who isn't afraid to challenge accessory roles of the '60s.

Banana Republic Dives Into Mad Men Land

Mad Men fans - present! - who visit Banana Republic between July 21 through Aug. 11 have a shot at appearing on the AMC series. Interested? Me too. During your shopping session, pick up a ticket to enter to win a walk-on role in an upcoming episode, as well as a $1,000 gift card from the store. Use the ticket code found on a Style Guide you'll be given profiling the characters to enter the casting call at madmencastingcall.amctv.com.
During this period, Banana's mannequins will be dressed in modern takes on the classic '60s style, and store windows will feature photos from the show. "Style and fashion are at the core of Mad Men with its 1960s aesthetic highlighting the classic silhouettes that are still popular today. Banana Republic is known for its modern takes on these classics . . . so the partnership is a natural fit for both brands," said Jack Calhoun, president of Banana Republic. Agreed, can't wait.

Fall 2008 Trend Alert: Mad Women

Sophistication has been turned up a notch for Fall. Which point in American time was known for fur stoles, cinched waists, buttoned up blouses and skirt dressing? The conservative '50s to the early '60s. Of course, the '60s soon took a turn to rebellion, but leading up to that ladies were tucked in and tame. Or so they tried to be. This style and thinking is the basis for the hit show Mad Men and who knew it would spark so many designers' creativity? As someone who appreciates women dressing like women, and not little girls, I embrace this trend. But don't be afraid to still show a little leg and pad a little bra . . .

Who Wore It Better? Dolce & Gabbana White Corset Dress

You may recall January in this white Dolce & Gabbana corset dress from the Emmys last Fall. We saw another incarnation when Penelope Cruz wore the sultry black version. It's back to white for model Marisa Miller who wore the dress at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Both blondes are bodacious, I can't choose who wore it better - you do the honors.
