How about investing in one cool bag this season instead of buying three or four mediocre ones? I'm thinking about taking the plunge with this Silver Marni Balloon Bag ($1,960) that Reese has in brown and black. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die." I gave this decadent piece a test run in a store and fell in lust. It's ultra-light and sleek. The shape is '20s fabulous and I adore the utilitarian strap. Does it get any better?

The newest Marni bag is delicious, but this Marni Balloon Bag ($1,360) has been tempting me for months. I gaze at it longingly at least once a day. I can't refuse the shiny leather, functional strap, and rich brown and black . . . but my wallet makes me refuse the price. Tear(s).

It's no Marni, but this Ann Taylor Embossed Croco Handbag ($49) is as close as I'm going to get without spending a fortune. It has the same oval handles, brown color, and balloon shape. I don't love the stud detail, but for that price, I can't complain.

Thank goodness for Forever 21, right? I can always look to my favorite fashion-on-the-cheap brand for affordable lookalikes - this Forever 21 Tropez Faux Leather Hobo ($32) is pretty spitting image of the Marni bag, for only a fraction of the price. Now I can love it and live it . . .
