Mrs. O: The Face of Fashion Democracy ($18) follows the first lady's wardrobe choices, from her wedding dress to her White House getups. You'll also find interviews with designers like Maria Pinto, Isabel Toledo, and Jason Wu, who have all dressed Michelle. The author is Mary Tomer, the same person who started the Mrs. O blog, which reports about Michelle's daily outfits.

White House | Black Market Gets Michelle O Boost

It seems anything Michelle Obama touches these days turns to gold. White House | Black Market is no exception. The clothing store, which gained major popularity last year when the first lady wore one of its $148 print dresses on The View, is one of the few companies increasing its ad spending this Fall. No word on the exact budget, but we do know that its ads, featuring model Siri Tollerød (left), will run in September issues of InStyle, Vogue, Elle, Lucky, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar. They will also appear on NYC buses, bus shelters, and a billboard near the brand’s Flatiron location. What's more, the brand may expand its retail presence in Manhattan. Good luck!

The Daily Front Row and The Fashion Mini - my favorite reads at New York Fashion Week - are singing Michelle Obama's fashion praises. They've released a special 116-page collector's issue dubbed Michelle Obama: 100 Days of Style ($7.49, includes shipping and handling), now also available at major bookstores and newsstands. It celebrates the first lady's first three months in the White House, from the inaugural ball to her trip through Europe. The issue also goes behind the scenes with her favorite designers. I love it - President Obama got praise for his first 100 days in office, and Michelle is being applauded not only for her philanthropy but also for her stellar style. Such a power couple!

The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the nominees for the 2009 awards and it's filled with some of our favorite designers. Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, and Jason Wu will be vying for a womenswear award while Calvin Klein Collection’s Italo Zucchelli, Michael Bastian, and Scott Sternberg for Band of Outsiders compete for the menswear accolade. The CFDA will also be honoring First Lady Michelle Obama with a special Board of Directors tribute. Winners will be announced on June 15 at the CFDA gala held at the Lincoln Center in NYC. May the best designer win!

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2009: Jason Wu

Behold: My view at Jason Wu! Unless you've been in Thailand the last month, you'd know Jason Wu was one of the most sought after invites for New York Fashion Week. Yours truly experienced the magic. It's no wonder first lady Michelle is a fan - Wu has the lightest touch I've ever seen. Concurrently, these clothes had substance. To answer the burning question: No, Michelle did not attend the show - darn.Inspired by the drawings of Arthur Rackham, who illustrated Alice in Wonderland (one of my favorite books!), models with twig headpieces glided down the runway. Pieces progressed from smart sportswear with feminine touches to ghostly gorgeous gowns. I do hope we'll see this violet chiffon embroidered gown on the Oscar red carpet. With a rainbow of colors and a variety of pieces, this collection is sure to succeed. Feminine details like embroidery, twists, drapes, paillettes, and swarovski crystals, were found on sheaths, skirts, blouses, and, of course, dresses. Considered me wooed.
