With a star-studded front row in attendance - Marc Jacobs, Katy Perry, and Kate Mara to name a few - Miuccia Prada sent a myriad of menswear-inspired suits down Miu Miu's Fall 2012 runway. The tailored looks got a whimsical kick via colorful hexagonal patterns, wide stripes, retro tapestry, flashy plaid prints, and ultrabejeweled embellishments. Add to the mix an all-star lineup of models, including Miranda Kerr, Coco Rocha, Doutzen Kroes, Jacquetta Wheeler, and Karlie Kloss, and you've got a cool collection worth poring over. Prada Fall 2012

From the moment we laid eyes on the purple geometric-designed carpet-cum-catwalk, we knew Miuccia Prada would imbue the Fall 2012 collection with her signature brand of retro quirk and clean lines. Indeed, it was a flurry of bright clashing prints (of all shapes and sizes), bejeweled wares, and ombre dip-dyed hair. The mosaic-like psychedelic prints came a dime a dozen, in bold burnt oranges, purples, and mustard yellows, and were transferred onto crisp suits, long coats (some even with coattails), button-downs, and dresses. When we weren't hypnotized by the plethora of colorful hexagonal patterns, we paid close attention to the intricate detailing given to each look. Long, luxe black coats were adorned with opulent jewel embellishments both on the collar and down the front lapel; similarly, the hems of cropped tailored pants received the same bedazzled treatment. As for the accessories? Models donned sky-high Mary Janes, complete with red rubber soles, carried slick tote bags that reminded us of old-school doctor bags, and wore futuristic aviator-meets-retro round sunglasses. Simply put, Miuccia's Fall lineup was a vibrant play on prints, sparkle, and tailored proportions.

Trends: Bejeweled hemlines and collars, dresses-over-pants, belted outerwear, and bold clashing prints.
Colors: Purple, blue, burnt orange, mustard yellow, and black.
Key Piece: The long, luxe, belted black coats, with rich embellishing both on the collar and down the front.
Accessories: Sky-high Mary Janes (complete with red rubber soles), oversized doctor-inspired totes, and futuristic aviator-meets-retro round sunglasses.
Who Would Wear It: The girl who loves color and a clean silhouette, like Michelle Williams, Zooey Deschanel, and Chloe Moretz.

For Fall 2011, Miuccia Prada drew inspiration from the '20s and the '60s, offering dropped-waist dresses, wide-belted big-button coats, sheer shifts, and Mondrian-esque block prints all topped off with colorful python-print, knee-high boots. And despite the unfussy nature of the silhouettes, glamorous touches via vibrant fur, the aforementioned python, and colorful paillettes made the ensembles truly unique. Prada is jumping on the designer-book bandwagon. The Italian house has unveiled a 706-page book, titled Prada, that highlights the house's 30 years of fashion, art, and more. "For Prada, fashion, luxury and style go beyond producing an infinity of clothes and shoes, so the book wants to illustrate the various aspects through which Prada expresses itself," said Patrizio Bertelli, chief executive officer of Prada Group. The tome, which retails for about $150, will hit Prada stores, select bookstores, and Prada.com.

For Spring '10, Miuccia Prada concocted a collection inspired by sea and surf. However, it wasn't your typical beach-inspired line. “Beach and antiquity - high and low - it is all the same,” said Miuccia Prada. “It is supposed to be an ironic take - sometimes nostalgic, for a contemporary take on antiquity for those who don’t understand the beauty of the past.” Well said, Miuccia.

Red-lipped models, complete with tousled ponytails, exuded a youthful innocence as they walked down the runway in a variety of crisp shorts - ranging from knicker-inspired, to long and lean, and even a couple of biker shorts - structured jackets, and embellished tops adorned with palm trees, in some darker hues for the print-challenged. But it was really the crystal-laden pieces that stole the show. These shimmering objects, via dresses and shoes, dazzled with every step. Definitely unique, and with a little modifying, like adding a slip underneath the dress, icons such as Ashley Olsen or Diane Kruger would surely take the bait.

Fab Flash: Prada, Calvin Klein Reveal Celebrity Guests to Costume Institute Gala

As the biggest singular fashion event of the year approaches - The Met's Costume Institute Gala on May 5 - designers have already started to announce which celebrities they are bringing as guests.

Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein revealed that he is dressing Fergie and Liv Tyler - no surprise there, since he's brought Liv to the event the past couple of years. He hinted that Fergie and Liv weren't his only two guests, but wouldn't name any more names.

Meanwhile, Miuccia Prada has invited recent Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton and actress Elizabeth Banks to accompany her.

Remember, this year the Gala's theme is superheroes, so it will be interesting to see how much the attendees play into that. I can't wait!

The dragonfly is totally rad and the sumptuous multi-tonal pink leather is to die. The python inserts give the clutch that perfect edge and prevents it from looking too cutesy. Fab Ad: Prada Fall/Winter 2007

Perennial Prada favorite Sasha Pivovarova is joined by newbies Irina Kulikova and Anabela Belikova in this season's ads. All three girls get the pleasure of showcasing the crazy astroturf textures and 60s shag carpet colors which happen to be Miuccia's whims o' the moment. On top of all that, they act the part of some Hitchcockian/Stepford Wive crossbreed, with their winged liquid eyeliner and blank washed-out faces.

Creepy as it may be, I can't help but love all the fringe, furriness, ombre, and creepy stares that come with this collection and these ads. What can I say, Miuccia has a soft spot in my heart.
