Oh mommy dearest - I once shunned your fashion advice, but now I regularly seek it. As a young lassie, I assumed you knew little about style, but now I realize I learned much of what I know from you. If my endless shopping excursions with mom have helped my personal style and wardrobe, imagine what the splurge-fests for the daughters of Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld (Editor of Vogue Paris), Danielle Steel, and Demi Moore have done for them! It's obvious Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Bee Shaffer (Anna's daughter), Rumer Willis, and the Traina sisters (Danielle's kids) have oodles of expensive closets to choose from . . . but it all comes down to personal style. For me, Carine and Julia stand out because of their effortlessly cool Euro vibe. Who is the best dressed mother/daughter combo to you?

Designer Spotlight: Caroline Hedeya

This is a story about two girls, Caroline and Donna, who were destined to become stylish bosom buddies. Before they met at F.I.T., the two led parallel lives hoping to become fashion designers one day. Shortly after graduating, Caroline and Donna combined their quirky ideas to create Caroline Hedaya, a genesis of Caroline's graceful touches with Donna's architectural aesthetic. For Spring '10, the duo supply us with a girlie gambit of crisp skirts, cropped lace tops, modern vintage frocks, and polka-dot prints made in cream and navy hues. I don't know which I love more: the simple cinched camisole dress or the white cut-out wonder . . .

Here's a fun fact: At the age of 4, Caroline used to get phone calls from her teacher telling her mom that her outfits were too extravagant for school. Luckily, her mother refused to pacify her daughter's eccentric ways - too cute!

Celebrity Style: Michelle Williams

Mother and daughter duo Michelle and Matilda strolled stylishly through Brooklyn over the weekend. The actress shed her hefty pea coat for a casual, cute look. First and foremost, she exemplifies how to pull off polkadots in a serious way. How does she do that? By pairing her black and white dotted tank with dark denim shorts, Ray Ban Wayfarers, ankle boots, and a canvas bag. More than well done.

It's always nice to see a well-dressed mother-daughter duo. Here we have Vogue editor Anna Wintour and her daughter Bee. Per usual, the duo is very prim and ladylike. While an event like Fashion Rocks is the time to let loose, you have to applaud Anna and Bee for sticking to their guns. What do you think about their outfits?

Seeing Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia in such powerful ensembles at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival makes me wish my mom and I were that rich and famous! There were a lot, and I mean a lot, of stunning red-carpet looks this week, but no one was as captivating as this fashionable French mother-daughter duo. Natalie Portman in Givenchy came in at close second, but Carine and Julia take the crown because I believe in power in numbers. The first of the two - Carine in Lanvin - were slick women in black. Later, at the amFAR event they were bombshells in Balmain (cue lightening sound effects). Fierce.

Project Runway Gets Girls (Women!) Ready For the Real World

Last night's episode of Project Runway lacked pizazz. I think we're at that dwindling point where we just want the remaining true talents to shine. It's time to weed out the wannabees. Am I being too harsh? This is fashion people! The remaining six had to create outfits for women who had recently graduated from college, preparing them for the real world and with mom's approval. Most mother-daughter duos and designers got along, and the designs proved to be pretty run-of-the-mill - nothing fabulously atypical. Maybe they were saving their energy for the finale runway show.
