Fab Finding Follow Up: Moving Day!

I just recently moved apartments and discovered quite the fashion dilemma: It's really hard to move furniture and look cute at the same time! I brought the challenge to the table for you girls, because I knew you could handle it, and asked you to help me find an outfit that is functional for moving, but also looks Fab!

I started you off with these Converse All-Star yellow lo-tops ($40), because they're comfy and such a happy color.

Come Fab Finding With Me: Moving Day!

I just recently moved apartments and discovered quite the fashion dilemma: It's really hard to move furniture and look cute at the same time! I bring the challenge to the table for you girls, because I know you can handle it. Make me up an outfit that is functional for moving, but also looks Fab!

Fab Exclusive! Whitney and Olivia on Whitney's Fashion Week Debut

We've been longtime supporters of Whitney Port's Whitney Eve clothing line. It may have started off on an unsure note, but it's always a good sign when you are able to show at the tents at New York Fashion Week.

Whitney's collection fused girlie and romantic and, to my relief, wasn't too '80s. There were definitely a couple flirty dresses and jackets I would rock, but Whitney needs to move past the pastels. While Olivia Palermo told me she thought the collection was "youthful" after the show, last night, at Divas Live, Whitney explained: "My inspiration was Alice in Wonderland goes to a cocktail party. I wanted something really fun, wearable, but that you could easily go from day to night in. Something you wear to the office and then can dress up with heels to go out. Bright colors."Looks like it's onward and upward for Whitney Eve.

FabSugar Exclusive: Rachel Zoe, The Morning After

Thrilling. That best describes The Rachel Zoe Project premiere last night. The glamour, the gowns, the jewels, the tension - I knew I would be hooked the second time around, what about you? Last night we witnessed the countdown to the Golden Globes, saw Team Zoe's new studio, met some new staff, and bit our nails over the lost pink Chanel haute couture dress. Or was that just me and Rachel? I caught up with the stylist extraordinaire this morning for some coffee talk. We mostly gushed about the gorgeous gowns on last night's show, but we also chatted Brad and Taylor. Here's last night's rehash . . .

Eva's white Dior was my favorite from this year's awards season. It wasn't on the runway, how did you find it?

"The PR people sent me photos even though it wasn't sent down the runway. I'll know that Eva has something coming up, I call it a check note. That necklace is probably my favorite piece of jewelry - ever. When I worked with Keira Knightley for the Oscars in '06, there was this vintage Bulgari piece and this brought that memory back to me. There's nothing like an incredible blob of turquoise. It's a dream scenario."

Speaking of jewelry, how did emeralds call out to you for Debra's navy Vera Wang?

"I love to see color. I don't want to do anything expected, or odd. The idea of emeralds with the navy is a younger, modern way to make something glamorous. You don't need diamonds for glamour. I love mixing colors, the less perfect the better."

Cameron's pink Chanel - have you asked designer's to alter before? Just not Karl? Why were you so nervous?

"Yes, I have, but Karl Lagerfeld is up there with my three heroes of all time. When you ask to make a change to an already-brilliant design, it's scary. What if it doesn't work? At the end of the day Cameron is my priority. I want to do what's politically correct, but also what's best for my client. You weigh your odds there. It was scary. Had he said no, I would have had to move on. The worst he could say is no."

New studio? Upgrade! And more staff?

"We actually have two studios now. One for the digital side of my business (The Zoe Report). We're growing Rachel Zoe Inc. And Jordan (the intern) and Marisa (Zoe's assistant). Poor Marisa is so innocent, she's the golden child of the group. She helps balance it out. Brad provides a lot of comic relief, when I'm having a really tense moment, Brad makes me laugh at it all."

It appears Brad and Taylor are getting along better. When they moved the desks downstairs, they banded together as brats. It was funny to see that banter.

"They are, but trust me they still have their moments. And they banter, for better or for worse."

When they talk about you, how does it make you feel?

"Brad isn't really built that way. It's more important to me that they get along with one another than they get pleasure out of making fun of me or patronizing me. If they weren't doing their jobs the way they do, they wouldn't be there. I wouldn't put up with it. We all know where we stand with one another. I compare it to a real family. You take abuse and you make up as if nothing ever happened. Or we don't even make up and just move on. They are so loyal."

It seems this season is going to get heavy with Taylor questioning her loyalty.

"Oh yeah. She'll be doing all season what she did last night. She's bored to tears, but she's not going to complain. But you do see a lighter side of Taylor. She's not programmed that way. I prefer she is who she is on camera, and not pretending to be something she's not. She has a heart of gold, I promise you that." Photo courtesy of Bravo

Hello? Lady Gaga? Is that you underneath that black mask? It sure is. The singer, known for her bolder than bold ensembles, attended a press conference in Malta wearing a mask. Now, I know Malta doesn't require its women to cover up, so this is merely another Gaga fashion move. Perhaps she's having a bad face day. A pair of black mismatched leather gloves and a sheer studded dress completed her avant-garde look. Is this latest Lady Gaga getup freaky or fabulous?

Karlie Kloss Reveals Her Model BFFs, Spring Must Haves, and Nudity

When I spy a tall, thin, blonde slowly gliding down the runway, head slightly tilted down, eyes focused, staring, I know exactly who it is: American model Karlie Kloss. The 16-year-old, who has recently taken up blogging on Modelfeed, has an unparalleled presence; she's cute-as-a-button approachable and intensely mysterious at the same time. I chatted with the modeling sensation about how she was discovered, her model posse, and what she's wearing these days.

How were you discovered?

Doing a charity fashion show in a mall in St. Louis for a friend who was battling cancer.

Has your ballet dance experience helped you on the catwalk or with your stamina?

Ballet has helped me express myself on photo shoots, and on the catwalk gives me the confidence to move with the fabrics.

Do you ever get embarrassed or uncomfortable with the nudity that modeling demands?

I am still 16 so my agency won't allow me to do nudity of any sort.

Tripping on the runway after closing the Pucci show in Milan.

How do you pass the time waiting around for the action to begin?

I just talk to my girlfriends, and of course BlackBerry my agent Stephen, and eat cookies in the corner with the girls.

Do you have model friends? If so, who?

Yes, I have lots. Jourdan Dunn is a close friend. I love Karmen Pedaru, and Catherine McNeil is cool to bake stuff with; they both live in my building. Abbey Lee is always cool to hang out with.

Favorite photo shoot destination?

I always wanted to shoot in Disney World. Probably shooting British Vogue with Patrick Demarchelier in an island off Sweden.

What are your Spring must haves?

White t-shirts, jeans, and whatever trade the designers will be throwing my way.

John Mayer, Secret Fashion Player, Take 2

You may or may not have been convinced John Mayer is a secret fashion player in my first story, so let's give it another go. Maybe a sexier photo will help? A sexier photo of Mayer with shopping bags?! I spot a Louis Vuitton bag amongst others carried by a tattooed, tan arm.

OK, down to business. In this edition, Mayer talks about how the Japanese are ahead of the fashion curve (true), gushes about a cool pair of LV pants he bought last year (was that what was in this bag?!), and continues to tell us his style tips . . .

The Japanese are so forward thinking.

"No, they are past-thinking. That’s what is so forward about it. The Japanese will put out magazines devoted to denim for the '50s. You will find full-on books, encyclopedic in nature, all about old motorcycle jackets from the '40s and '60s. So all they are really doing is going through time and finding the greatest version of something and then mass-producing."

What's in your closet?

"I have a closet that’s like the greatest collection of leather jackets and Belstaff's. I know everything down to the name of these jackets but I normally just throw on jeans and a t-shirt. I’m a big Rick Owens guy. Love Rick Owens."

"Number two. Every brand that at least has some solvency to have a store in NYC let’s say. Every single brand makes at least one garment that is worth owning. If you walk into a store because your friend wants to go into G-Star, no offense to G-star, look around and find the best G-star piece. Keep your eyes open. Don’t be a whore for labels. When it’s time, go into a store. Louis Vuitton makes one killer piece that looks nothing like Louis Vuitton every single year. Last year I bought this pair of racing pants. They are like the baggiest, coolest, cottony pants. They are billowy and have a tight hem. They are almost parachutey. Nothing like the LV design language. Everyone breaks design language one time per season. Find it, buy two of them.

"Number three. You never want to look like you bought all your stuff on the same day. Create a rotation. So you want to slowly move things into rotation, even if it means you don’t pop a tag for six months. Slowly move it into rotation. Don’t look like you are hanging out in Biscayne Bay. You know what I’m talking about? Don’t Biscayne Bay.

"Last one. It’s what I call 'long ago and hard to find.' That means, every two garments you buy every season, put them away. Don’t even think about popping them open. That means that a year and a half later when you break it out - assuming it wasn’t ever mass-produced - it will sort of juxtapose itself perfectly with the culture and the style of the day. People will say, Where’d you get that amazing jacket, and you’ll say it was hard to find two years ago. And that is how your style is untouchable."

Gossip Girl Fashion Quiz: "The Magnificent Archibalds"

A couple really loose ends, and big plots, got resolved in this Turkey Day episode of Gossip Girl. Whew! While I love the drama, sometimes it can be exhausting and I get antsy for new fireworks. Mainly, Jenny has reconciled with her father while Nate's father surrenders to the law. Not all is a good result, but most are feeling relief knowing they can move on. Blair continues to be a bit of a brat still struggling to accept the new man, her mom's man, in her life. Serena almost gets herself into another relationship quagmire and saves herself - she's learned from her mistakes. There was lots of feel good ambiance and festive fashions, enough to get me excited for a real Thanksgiving next week.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Hanii Y, Sleepwalker

Amid the Oscars and Ralphs, there is always new blood debuting at New York Fashion Week. I was already familiar with the house of Hanii Y, and was curious what the designer's first official presentation would entail. I also had the chance to meet the designer Hanii Yoon - who is half of the other design house Y & Kei, where she designs with her husband. It's a little confusing, but her vintage-inspired, crisp clothes aren't. They are sharply cut, colorful, and above all, unique. And you have to hear about her inspiration for her "Sleepwalking Park" collection - it's really interesting stuff . . .

This is your first time showing at New York Fashion Week. What made you decide to finally present?

When I studied in San Francisco (at FIDM) it was my dream. Donna Karan inspired me to become a big New York designer.

What is your inspiration for Spring?

Sleepwalking. I experienced the "White Nights" in Copenhagen, when the days and nights are bright - it's always day. When I experienced this it was like a dream and day and night blended together. That whole experience made me feel like I was sleepwalking the whole time. The blurring of colors and images, I mixed bright colors with monochromatic colors, masculine with feminine, hard and soft, the varying points are all put together. These (the white pillars in the pictures) are sort of like the trees. We created a white world out of this white night inspiration. This dream-like park, or forest, started with nature. It's fantastical, but also artificial.

What kind of materials and fabric did you work with?

I loved working with leather this season, and also the organza. I really liked pairing these hard and soft elements together. It was very interesting for me.

Who do you envision wearing your clothes?

Someone who's confident. Someone who works during the day but at night she lets loose and enjoys being a woman. She captures both worlds. She wants to have it all.

What was your greatest challenge?

I just moved from Korea to New York permanently. And I was settling in and getting my bearings while trying to put together my first presentation for New York Fashion Week. But I'm really appreciative because I feel like it was a great learning experience and made me stronger.
