Over the weekend, Olivia Palermo and hottie boyfriend Johannes Huebl had a date night at a Showtime movie screening in NYC. I know it's hard to take your eyes off of Johannes, but do so for a second to focus on Olivia's flirty femme ensemble. The red cutout top is vivacious, while her floral miniskirt lends a darling touch. Matching red ballet flats, a black leather belt, a gold bracelet, and a crocodile clutch complete her look. Nancy Gonzalez Loves a Challenge

Not too long ago, Saks invited me to meet handbag designer Nancy Gonzalez. For those not familiar, Nancy has been delivering decadent - read: exotic - handbags since 1998. Think of a Nancy Gonzalez bag as a classic - up there with Chanel and Bottega Veneta - only spicier. That is because Nancy hails from Colombia and splits her time between New York and her native country. She was very warm and vivacious. But when it came her to her bags, she was serious.

Others serious about Nancy's bags include Mary-Kate Olsen, who has recently been carrying her clutches, and a couple appeared in the Sex and the City movie. They're everywhere really; you just have to keep an eye out, as there's no mistaking her bright croc signature. Here's what goes on in the designer's brain.

What made you decide to work with animal skins for your bags?

"I have always worked with precious skins. The collaboration with nature has always fascinated me."

How do you get your colored bags so bright?

"My colors are inspired by the exuberant landscape of my native Colombia. All our skins our naturally dyed and then buffed, which brings out this particular radiant, colorful luster that my bags have."

In case you haven't heard, Miss Mary-Kate is a juror for the Tribeca Film Festival. She attended a brunch, along with her co-jurors, but stood out in her sexy hot pink Herve Leger bandage skirt, black leather jacket, and Elizabeth and James mules. Her Nancy Gonzalez croc clutch took the luxe factor up a few notches. And is that an anklet I spy?! Looks like MK is bringing it back. Isn't it refreshing to see Mary-Kate in a form-fitting outfit? She pulls it off flawlessly.

Battle of the Chanel: Kruger vs. Olsen

My Friday was just made more Fab. A handful of gorgeous celebs came out to Chanel's Tribeca Film Festival event last night, but these two took the biggest risks and therefore tickled my fashion fancy. Diane kept things elegant but slightly exotic in gray-silk harem pants, a black turtleneck, and a cross-body embellished Chanel purse. Meanwhile, Mary-Kate wowed in a witchy beaded black frock, Givenchy heels, and a red croc Nancy Gonzalez clutch. Both très Fab, but totally different. Who wins?
