Fab Flash: Helena Christensen to Open New Store in London

She already runs the clothing and antique store Butik in Manhattan, but one place is just not enough for Helena. She told the Daily Mail yesterday that she is planning to expand with a new shop in the Notting Hill area of London. How great is that - not only has she had a successful run as a supermodel, but she's done well as a photographer and businesswoman, too! What luck!

DIY Ideas: 14 Home Improvement Projects That Cost Under $10

Believe it or not, redecorating your home doesn't need to be a massive and expensive project. Simple touches like adding a decorative tray or changing your pillow cases can have dramatic effects. To help you get inspired, we pulled together 14 easy decorating ideas that will update your home without breaking your budget. In fact, most of these projects are completely free . . . and the rest weigh in at under $10.

Rearrange the bookshelf. Reorganizing the bookshelf will easily make an entire room look more styled and polished, and you don't even have to get rid of anything. One tip is to arrange your books so they look like a smooth landscape of rolling hills. Put the tallest in the middle and fan out to the smallest or create multiple peaks (as long as the books flow together) or lay a few books on their side and stack them like a pyramid.
Rearrange your furniture. This may sound simple, but rearranging furniture is a great (and free!) way to completely change the look and feel of your home. If you always find yourself climbing over an ottoman, move your couch back to create a passing lane. Is it too cramped? Try moving your side table to another room that's more spacious.
Change a light switch plate. Finding the light switch is always a daunting task, especially for guests. So why not try decoupaging pretty patterned paper to the plate for a nice pop of color? Your friends will thank you and a little touch of color will liven up any space.
Make pillow covers. One yard of fabric is all you need to make two adorable decorative pillow covers. Adding a fresh pattern or color to your living room or bed will elevate the design and you can buy designer fabrics on sale for an inexpensive price.
Buy fresh flowers. A vase full of fresh flowers instantly brings life to any space, especially in the dreary winter months when everything outside is cold and pretty lackluster. You don't need to get fancy-a bouquet of supermarket roses in a happy hue is enough to make a difference.

Gwyneth Paltrow Takes Off With Chris, Apple, and Moses

Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at NYC's JFK airport on Sunday. She took off for London with her husband Chris Martin, and their children, 6-year-old Apple and 5-year-old Moses. The family has since settled back into their UK routine, and Chris was seen out for a stroll along Notting Hill's Portobello Road yesterday afternoon with a pal. It didn't take Gwyneth long to see her English friends, either. She joined Kate Moss and Stella McCartney for an evening out at the Arts Club last night. She also spent time prepping her latest GOOP newsletter. Gwyneth collected tips on starting a small business from the founders of various online companies.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson pokes his head out between the feather headdresses of Genesis Mas Band members ahead of the Notting Hill Carnival this weekend.

The Genesis Carnival Company, a costume design and performance company, was founded by a cofounder of the Notting Hill Carnival, so its members have been performing in the local festival for 30 years. This year the band's theme is "Myths and Treasure Beneath the Sea," so think mermaids, treasure, coral, and sea horses. See the extravagant dancers in all their sparkly glory as they get ready for the float- and party-filled celebration!

Robert Pattinson Hits Notting Hill Solo Amid New Breaking Dawn Buzz

Kate Hudson Carries Baby Bing Close During a Family Day Out

Kate Hudson held baby Bingham on her chest during a walk around Notting Hill Saturday. The 4-month-old's dad, Matthew Bellamy, followed closely behind with Bing's stylish Missoni stroller. Kate and Bing are back in London with Matthew after a trip to NYC where she filmed The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Kate's oldest son, Ryder, visited her on set and checked out Kate's darker hairstyle for the role. She was back to blond just a few days later, and it looks like she's sticking with her lighter locks when she's not in front of the cameras.

The trio have been making the UK their home base since welcoming Bing back in July, and they've been busy during their stay. Kate and Matthew partied with pals like Stella McCartney and dined out with Kate Moss, but it hasn't been all about fun. Matthew's band Muse is recording their next album in London, marking the first time that all three members have been based in the same location.

Some of the same characters from her lavish first bash attended last night's at the more low-key venue of Notting Hill's Cow Pub, like Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, and Gwyneth Paltrow. There were new faces too, with Liv Tyler, Gwen Stefani, and Cameron Diaz, who watched Jude Law's Anna Christie earlier in the evening, wishing Stella well. Kate apparently went to the pub just after she returned from Paris, where she walked in Louis Vuitton's show at her own request and held a bash to celebrate her new line of jewels for Fred. Uncharacteristically, though, Kate and Jamie were reportedly among the first guests to leave. The party gave good pals Gwyneth and Cameron a chance to hang out at the relaunch of the Arts Club on Tuesday, and Paltrow hopped on stage to serenade a royal crowd that included Prince Philip.

Decorating Ideas and Inspiration From a Beautiful, Rustic Handmade Wedding

Derek and I tied the knot on August 6th at the beautiful Spring Mill Park in Mitchell, IN, an idyllic setting complete with rolling southern Indiana hills, caves, and a working pioneer village. The park held special childhood memories for both of us, and we wanted a rustic setting for the wedding, so this location was a no-brainer. With an abundance of DIY elements, our wedding was truly a labor of love, and we couldn’t have pulled the whole thing off without tons and tons of help from our friends and family. The wedding and everything leading up to it was a lot of work, but we had so much fun and we ended up with a completely personalized wedding. The greatest compliment we have been receiving is from the people who tell us that the wedding was, “So you.”

The Mad Men Cast Talks About Their Best Drama Emmy Streak and Missing January Jones

Mad Men picked up its fourth consecutive Emmy win for best drama series, and series creator Matthew Weiner joined the cast in the press room to talk about the fact that they didn't expect a win, being a gracious loser to Friday Night Lights in the writing category, and missing cast member January Jones, who didn't come because she recently gave birth to a baby boy.

Matthew Weiner, on not expecting to win: "I actually heard a lot more 'We loved the show last year but you're not gonna win.' I was disheartened, but we can't go on forever. We keep doing the same work whether we win or not. Lots of people out there are working just as hard and haven't won at all. So I had made peace with the fact that we might lose. Then it turned out we didn't and I'm really happy."
Weiner, on missing January Jones:: "She's home with her baby, John Slattery says. Her baby had his fingers crossed, she told me that. And she said it was really weird that we were going to be here without her, and we miss her terribly. And I had a horrible superstition that her not coming was bad for us and told her she should come anyway, but she didn't. We miss her tonight and we're super happy for her, all of us are. It's a great addition to our work family; we're very close here."
Weiner, on tying Hill Street Blues, The West Wing, and LA Law for the most best drama wins: "I have not absorbed that. I'm a huge fan of television and I've watched all those shows. It's hard to comprehend that we're in that company. It really is."
Weiner, on how winning the award feels after undergoing very public contract negotiations: "You know what, we are always fighting to keep the show the way it is and to keep it good. Everything worked out. The sweetest thing is that we got to go back to work. We get to go back to work tomorrow, and we get to keep making the show for another 39 episodes. And that is really the result of all of it."
Weiner on losing to the best writing Emmy to Friday Night Lights's Jason Katims: "Jason's a great writer, I'm thrilled that he won the award. No one expects any of this. I'm looking at what I think is the greatest cast in television right now, and we were shut out. But we won this award; things sort of balance out, I guess. We got recognized for the show, which is everybody's work on the show, writing, directing, everything. All of that together, to me this is the prize that says people love what we're doing."
