Fab Flash: Helena Christensen to Open New Store in London

She already runs the clothing and antique store Butik in Manhattan, but one place is just not enough for Helena. She told the Daily Mail yesterday that she is planning to expand with a new shop in the Notting Hill area of London. How great is that - not only has she had a successful run as a supermodel, but she's done well as a photographer and businesswoman, too! What luck!

The Story Behind Zou Bisou Bisou

First sung by Sophia Loren in English in 1960, remade in French by Gillian Hills in 1961, and brought back to life on Mad Men last night by Mrs. Don Draper, Zou Bisou Bisou is the perfect song for a 1960s sex kitten.

On Sunday's Season 5 premiere of Mad Men, Don's new wife, Megan, channels a yé-yé girl, a term derived from "yeah! yeah!" The yé-yé movement was comprised of female pop singers from France, Québec, and Spain, whose likes included Françoise Hardy, Gillian Hills, and Sheila. The themes of the songs, often written by men like Serge Gainsbourg and Michel Rivgauche, were innocent, while the girls channeled a sexy naiveté.

Mad Men's Megan, who is originally French Canadian, embodied this contradiction perfectly last night in the episode appropriately titled "A Little Kiss" (bisou means kiss in French). Don Draper's much younger wife hopped around playfully, singing the French version of the song and lifting her skirt to show a little leg. The French lyrics she sang translated to: "But who needs the bushes of August when you hold me softly around the neck?" But later in the episode we saw Don grab her in a not-so soft way, as a cleaning session led to rough sex between the Drapers.

Running on trails can offer a much better workout than the gym treadmill. You'll burn more calories propelling your own body weight forward rather than relying on the treadmill belt. All those natural hills tone your legs, build endurance, and can make you a faster runner. Plus, the gorgeous scenery and dodging all the puddles and fallen limbs make running more exciting, which might inspire you to run more often and for longer distances. That said, there are some risks to hitting the trails, and here's how to avoid them.

Bugs, bears, and other creatures: Being one with nature may mean getting a little more up close and personal than you'd like. Bugs like mosquitoes and ticks, although annoying, can be avoided with a little bug spray and by wearing lightweight long-sleeve shirts and pants to cover your skin. Bears, wolves, and venomous snakes, on the other hand, I'd rather not have to deal with. Talk to fellow runners and those that maintain nearby trails to find out which areas are safe from wild animals.
Human predators: Unfortunately, furry animals aren't the only thing you need to worry about. Always run with a buddy, bring your dog for extra protection, carry a cell phone and ID on you, and if it'll make you feel safer, take along pepper spray.

Kate Moss and husband Jamie Hince were spotted leaving Claridge's hotel in London last night, en route to an event at the Notting Hill Arts Club. The model wore head-to-toe black, paired with a brightly colored striped cape. Kate and Jamie have been spending a lot of time close to home lately, attending a few events during London Fashion Week as well as a recent NME Awards afterparty. Kate didn't hit the runway this season, but she's currently the face of Mango's Spring 2012 ad campaign. She spoke about her deal with Mango during a recent interview with England's The Telegraph. Kate Moss shared her top fashion tips, saying, "I don't have any strict rules, but my husband does say not to wear a hat with glasses because I look as if I'm trying to wear a disguise."

Mayor of London Boris Johnson pokes his head out between the feather headdresses of Genesis Mas Band members ahead of the Notting Hill Carnival this weekend.

The Genesis Carnival Company, a costume design and performance company, was founded by a cofounder of the Notting Hill Carnival, so its members have been performing in the local festival for 30 years. This year the band's theme is "Myths and Treasure Beneath the Sea," so think mermaids, treasure, coral, and sea horses. Believe it or not, redecorating your home doesn't need to be a massive and expensive project. Simple touches like adding a decorative tray or changing your pillow cases can have dramatic effects. To help you get inspired, we pulled together 14 easy decorating ideas that will update your home without breaking your budget. In fact, most of these projects are completely free . . . and the rest weigh in at under $10.

Rearrange the bookshelf. Reorganizing the bookshelf will easily make an entire room look more styled and polished, and you don't even have to get rid of anything. One tip is to arrange your books so they look like a smooth landscape of rolling hills. Put the tallest in the middle and fan out to the smallest or create multiple peaks (as long as the books flow together) or lay a few books on their side and stack them like a pyramid.
Rearrange your furniture. This may sound simple, but rearranging furniture is a great (and free!) way to completely change the look and feel of your home. If you always find yourself climbing over an ottoman, move your couch back to create a passing lane. Is it too cramped? Try moving your side table to another room that's more spacious.
Change a light switch plate. Finding the light switch is always a daunting task, especially for guests. So why not try decoupaging pretty patterned paper to the plate for a nice pop of color? Your friends will thank you and a little touch of color will liven up any space.
Make pillow covers. One yard of fabric is all you need to make two adorable decorative pillow covers. Adding a fresh pattern or color to your living room or bed will elevate the design and you can buy designer fabrics on sale for an inexpensive price.
Buy fresh flowers. A vase full of fresh flowers instantly brings life to any space, especially in the dreary winter months when everything outside is cold and pretty lackluster. You don't need to get fancy-a bouquet of supermarket roses in a happy hue is enough to make a difference.
