Gap and Nylon Fête Gap's New Soho Concept Store

The stars spread some holiday cheer last night at Gap's new 8,000-square-foot concept store in Soho. The always-adorable Becki Newton and Emmy Rossum stopped by and tried on scarves and hats. The City's Roxy Olin also made a cameo and left with a bag full of goodies. Good thing because 30 percent of of all purchases benefited Feeding America. There was live music, Christmas trees, candy canes, cozy sweaters, and lots of holiday love to go around.

Behind the Seams: Nylon's 10th Birthday Bash

To help celebrate its decade of existence, Nylon Magazine invited all its fabulous friends to the Thompson LES Hotel in New York City last night. Who made the guest list? Christian Siriano, Alexandra Richards, Ciara, Marc Jacobs's fiance Lorenzo Martone, and Taylor Momsen, who announced she's designing costumes for her rock band's upcoming tour. As with any other birthday bash, a yummy (and pink!) birthday cake was on hand, as were drinks, clothing, and makeup. Happy 10th birthday, Nylon. May you live to be 100.

Leighton Meester in Bedazzled Preen: Love It or Hate It?

Leighton Meester has been known to push the fashion envelope every so often, so when we spotted her wearing this unique Preen dress at the Nylon Mexico launch party we had to dish. Her bedazzled LBD has an interesting mesh overlay and corset-like panel running across the chest. For adornments, the Gossip Girl chose a multi-colored bracelet by House of Lavande, a stingray barrel clutch by Cecelia, and a pair of strappy black sandals. Her ensemble is daring: do you love it or hate it?

Models Coco Rocha (left), Hilary Rhoda, Jessica Stam, Freja Beja Erichsen, and Lily Cole all show up in the recent issue of Nylon Magazine, but not in the way that you would expect. Artist in residence Coco has drawn gorgeous and lifelike illustrations of the models on the catwalk and in editorials. They're definitely worth a look, and in fact, they're worth printing and posting on your walls. No doubt CasaSugar would agree!

Handbag Designer Spotlight: MZ Wallace

Amid a sea of gaudy and ambiguous designer handbags, MZ Wallace purses stand out with their utilitarianism. Founders Lucy Wallace Eustice, a former Harper's Bazaar editor, and Monica Zwirner, a fashion stylist and interior designer, met through the fashion industry. Turns out, they had the same vision; they both realized that luxury consumers weren't about to give up their Birkins for newcomers.

They also knew that women who spent thousands on bags also want a less serious option. MZ Wallace bags are relatively inexpensive (from $225 to $350) compared to many labels out there and are made of high-quality Italian nylon. They can all be purchased online through their site.

For the good number of you that dig the hipster look, I have a book you'll definitely be inspired by. Street: The Nylon Book of Global Style, $17, features 256 pages of hipster fashion from around the world.

See gals and guys in choppy bangs, layered duds, Ray Bans, skinny jeans, Chucks and the like in the streets of Paris, Tokyo, London, Copenhagen, Berlin, New York and Melbourne. If you feel like biting a look from the book, at least you know you won't run into the same hipster wearing it in, say, Tokyo.

My all-time fave designer Marc Jacobs came out with his own version of the red plaid nylon shopping bag earlier in the year. But did you know he was most probably inspired by the original $2 Chinatown nylon plaid shopping bags? Needless to say, Marc is the one who made it cool to carry one of these puppies to the grocery store, or on your coffee run. But is it really worth paying a fortune for a nylon bag when you can get it for under $5?
