Former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams attended Fuse's new ad campaign party in NYC looking boho glam in an affordable bebe silk, one-shoulder maxi. What I particularly love about this dress is that the silhouette is playful and ethereal, yet the dark color scheme and animal print bottom make it appropriate for an evening event. Michelle threw on a some matching accessories - a black bangle, cocktail ring, some hoop earrings - and called it a night.

Party On Party Dresses: One(derful) Shoulders

One-shoulder dresses had a strong presence earlier in the year at the Oscars and they're still wowing us today. Cate Blanchett, in Armani Privé stole the show, so why not do the same this New Year's?

One(derful) Shoulder dresses are great for ladies who have chiseled shoulders and want to show them off. If your problem areas are below the waist, opt for an asymmetrical frock to draw attention to your décolletage. I'd stay away from necklaces but would rock a gorgeous cocktail ring and retro open-toe pumps.

Donna Karan Fall 2012

Somewhere, Marlene Dietrich is smiling. Donna Karan's Fall 2012 collection gave menswear a seductive turn, somehow making the double-breasted suit look just as sexy as the fitted dresses. Whereas past collections felt as loose and languid as a yoga pose, this latest collection was all about sharp tailoring and even sharper edges. Blazers had pointed shoulders, tops had extra wide, stiff cuffs, and skirts and dresses were folded and gathered like the face of a Frank Gehry building. There was lots of structure, and it seemed that Karan is making a strong argument for the '90s power suit. Models were adorned with miniature fedoras - thank you, Stephen Jones - giving the show a slightly playful and sexy undertone, as if they were Vegas dancers playing businesswomen. That said, Donna Karan also paid tribute to Whitney Houston, and the show closed with the late singer's rendition of "I'm Every Woman." No one knows that better than Karan. Side note: the show opened with a preview of her Casual Luxe line, which could be summed up as tartan-loving biker chick. Those looks follow the collection photos.

Trends: power suits, menswear, architectural details, sculptural.
Colors: Red, black, gray, olive.
Key Piece: The fitted menswear blazers, a sexy red cocktail dress.

Edun Fall 2012

Bono and wife Ali Hewson's elevated eco-conscious clothing brand showed off a darker mood this season, but not to worry, the presence of Edun's signature exotic prints abounded in pops of silky fuchsia and electric blue combos. Even as the first model took her turn on the runway, the clothes delivered a strong message: the Edun girl, as the program notes, "has taken her punk rock roots on safari." With that said, this is one urban-infused African safari trip we've ever embarked upon. Among the most prevalently featured prints were zebra, leopard, gazelles - reincarnated into prettily draped shoulder dresses, loud shirt dresses, and even twist dresses. To add a layer of functional Winter warmth into the mix, Edun's Fall '12 lineup showcased boxy ribbed turtlenecks, leather slickers, and a plethora of structured, tough-girl overcoats. Cold weather, beware - this cool mix of animal-inspired patterns and chunky outerwear packs a seasonal punch.

Trends: Graphic animal prints, leather, and oversized turtlenecks.
Colors: Pops of electric blue, neon green, bronze, black, navy blue, fuchsia.
Key Piece: The silky, relaxed gazelle-printed blouse paired with slouch black pants.
Accessories: Utilitarian-inspired black ankle boots.

VPL by Victoria Bartlett Fall 2012

Victoria Bartlett has cornered the knit market with her on-trend, sexy spin on the classic sweater, and the VPL by Victoria Bartlett Fall '12 collection gave us many more iterations to love. Known for her body-conscious silhouettes and athletic aesthetic, the designer offered up avant-garde, futuristic chic with ornate spiderweb-inspired cable-knit pieces, drapey cowl-neck tops and dresses, and bright pops of color and metallic sheen. Models also wore tight, solid leggings layered with strong-shoulder sweaters, shin guards, and of course VPL's signature colorblock underpinnings - looking almost ready for a battle. Our design-savvy readers are always inspiring us with shots of stylish scenes from their homes in our Lovely Little Vignettes group. In honor of Fashion Week, we decided to tap the shoulder of one of our favorite personal style bloggers, Nicole from Frankie Hearts Fashion, to take on our Lovely Little Vignettes fashion challenge! Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story on earrings to dress up your Winter looks from our friends at Lucky!

Arm parties and expertly layered necklaces are great-except in winter, when bare limbs and necklines are hidden like, 70 percent, of the time. Cold weather kills my motivation to accessorize (along with my will to do anything other than watch Downton Abbey), since I know most people I bump into will only see my giant parka, boots, scarf and windchapped face anyway.

But maybe I'll invest in a pair of doorknocker earrings to distract from my bulky ensemble and red cheeks. They're the laziest way to look a little bit more glamorous in even the most industrious winter outfit.
