At her friend's medical school graduation party, jennyjenny was the pastel darling of the night. In that adorable dress, it would be hard not to steal glances left and right. I love everything from the shoulder detail to the color to the floral print. It's spunky, lighthearted, and oh-so-pretty - just the way a cocktail dress ought to be.

Cheap and Chic: Pretty Pastel Peepers

While I'm still contemplating whether or not to incorporate pastels into my wardrobe, Whitney Port has already made her decision. The reality star was recently snapped at LAX airport debuting a pair of pastel pink glasses. They sort of made her outfit, wouldn't you say? The Alexander Wang gray sweatshirt and shredded white jeans are cool, but a pretty hint of pastel made the look more charming. If you're hesitant to dabble with pastels, sunglasses are a good place to start. Baby steps, baby steps.

I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of pastel jeans. Why, you ask? Because blue jeans have had their hurrah and it's time for something new. You might be feeling some resistance but think of all the pretty hues you can choose from. Light lavender, pink, sky blue, orange - the list goes on and on. Oh, by the way, they're pretty cheap, too!

Of all the images Mango and Penelope have created together, this latest one is the most up close, literally. It retains an air of sexiness that's undeniably Penelope, but it also reveals the actress's softer, more sensual side. The pastel colors are sweet and less in-your-face than her previous designs. I'm loving everything I see so far - especially the pink jeans (left), denim jacket, beaded dress, and striped cardigan.

Grammy Awards: Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel jumped on the pretty pastel trend at the Grammys. Her lilac Luella floral dress is sweet and different from all the frocks we've seen thus far. To complete her vintage get-up, Zooey adorned herself with a bejeweled hair clip, satin clutch, and peep toe pumps. Do you love it or hate it?

Spring Couture Trend Alert: Very Pretty Pastels

Very pretty pastels dominated the Spring Couture runways this season. Notice how this light, chalky hue is ideal for showing off intricate details and gives off a whimsical feel. Christian Dior took the bold approach and dyed silk taffeta frocks in dusty blue and peach while Elie Saab played it demure with light green and purple. My fave? Fall Glimpse: Ice Ice Baby

Per usual, the Fall runways were awash with dark, moody, and jewel-tone colors. However, some designers went against the grain and embraced the icy-cold colors of Fall. Winter white, mellow gray, and arctic blue are intense, cool, and collected.

Narciso Rodriguez (left) was decidedly hyperbolic with this monochrome look - a sculptural white dress, blinding tights and banded shoes. It may be slushy and ugly outside, but being stylishly stark never looked so good.

2008 Fall Couture: Christian Dior

The couture shows have begun in Paris. Now that we've seen the relaxed resort collections, I'm ready for drama, drama, and more drama. John Galliano's theatrics touched every aspect of his production: the clothes, the shoes, the makeup, the models, the celebrities. While last year brought bright, bold hues such as red, purple, and fuchsia, this year's palette was rather tame in comparison.
Pastel pinks, greens, yellows, and lilacs made their way onto ever-dramatic silhouettes. Origami shapes, crochet, ruffles, tulle, pleats, chiffon, and sequins are all part of this year's outstanding couture cast. While the colors are subdued, the footwear is anything but. Feminine clothes are contrasted by dangerous caged platforms with metallic triangle heels. Another fitting accessory is a '20s-style cloche hat in leopard, leather, and studs. As well, protruding corset belts have taken on new meanings. Be mistaken not; this collection may utilize pastels, but it's not fit for the chipper Church-goer. Nay.
