The Look For Less: Alice + Olivia White Jewel Face Tee

Super girlie tees are all the rage, thanks to Lanvin's trés chic version. The more bows and frills, the better! Alice + Olivia's White Jewel Face Tee ($198) is so cute, I just want to eat it up. I can see myself wearing it with a pair of skinny black jeans and metallic ballet flats. Et voilà. My only concern is the price tag - it's so trendy, I'm afraid I won't want to wear it five years from now. And so I set out to find a cheaper version . . .

This Pastry Sweetie Print Tunic ($26) isn't identical to the one above, but it has resemblances: the big bow on the shoulder, the gorgeous face. Plus, it's way more agreeable to my wallet. I can still wear it with the aforementioned outfit and no one will know the difference. Yes!

On Our Radar: Vanessa and Angela Simmons' Pastry Brand Expands

Back in May Reverend Run's daughters, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, came out with a shoe line sweetly named Pastry. Now the sisterly duo is expanding their repertoire to include apparel and handbags. The Spring line will consist of satin and spandex dresses, embroidered denim, stretch charmeuse tops, French terry hoodies and pants, and more.

Much like their sneakers, the collection is going to be colorful and lighthearted. Look for the aforementioned pieces in stores such as Against All Odds and Drjays.com starting January 25. In the meantime, do you see yourself buying any pieces from the Pastry clothing and handbag collection?

Fab Flash: Pastry Sneakers by Rev Runs' Girls

You may recognize Angel and Vanessa Simmons from MTV's reality show "Run's House." The hip hop princesses, who launched their own sneaker line, Pastry on Sunday, are the daughters of ex-Run-D.M.C. star Reverend Joseph "Run." The pair's first collection, dubbed Cake, is comprised of four sneakers: Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Mousse, Sprinkles and Red Velvet. Each style is designed to look like the cake it represents. That's not where the sweetness ends, though. Each shoe, $65, comes with lip gloss that tastes and smells like the respective sneaker. Next up is a collection called Fab Cookie! I wonder what goodies will be whipped up for that line...

Although the line hasn't hit online stores yet, it has been reported that DrJays.com will soon be carrying it. If you're a sneaker gal, be sure to snag one of the delicious Simmons concoctions!

Fab Flash: Coco Rocha Speaks Up At The CFDA Model Health Discussion

"She wakes up in the morning, goes to the bathroom to take a shower and runs by the full-length mirror because she can't bare to look at herself naked. She only weighs 104 pounds, but all she can think is, I need to be thinner. She hurries to her first show, where she promises herself she'll eat a few grapes. But when she gets there, there's nothing but pastries. First looks are called, she puts on her dress and it takes three people to zip her up. The dresser makes a joke, 'We almost had to call the agency and tell them you didn't fit.' All the girl can think is, I better not eat until tomorrow." Those were the words of model Coco Rocha as she described a day in a model's life at the CFDA discussion on "The Beauty of Health: How the Fashion Industry Can Make a Difference."

In conjunction with CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors, the model and her colleagues spoke up about the imminent health dangers of modeling in an industry where the pressure to stay thin is heavier than ever. Rocha told the audience: "They said, 'You need to lose more weight - the look this year is anorexia, and although we don't want you to be anorexic, we want you to look it,'" she recalled. "My question is, how do you look anorexic unless you actually are?"

The discussion aimed to shed light, knowledge, and understanding on the pressures models experience with the rest of the fashion industry. Along with encouraging agencies to work with nutritionists and trainers, Kors suggested for people to treat the models not at mannequins, but as actual people. The meeting was very necessary and hopefully made more of a step in the direction towards healthier models.

Sweet Chocolate Couture

Two of girls' best friends-in this case, chocolate and fashion-collided at the 9th Annual Chocolate Show, held last Thursday in New York City. Some of the designs were absolutely gorgeous, like the Willy Wonka-inspired masterpiece and vampiric design above. Others, meanwhile, were totally gross-notably, the model with strips of chocolate running down her legs. For the fashion portion of this choco-centric event, top pastry and confection chefs worked with fashion designers, including Rebecca Taylor, Abaete, and Heatherette, to create the over-the-top and edible clothes.
