Fab Ad: J Brand Keeps Things Sleek, Fall '10

While most other Fall ads have fluffed it up, J Brand has paired it down. Way down. But that's what's so beautiful about these latest - the simplicity of the set allows the denim to be the star. The four styles highlighted are a skinny blue jean, a flared pair, a black skinny with zippered details, and a chic brown skinny denim. The styling is dead-on, too. This is J Brand's largest advertising effort yet, with Patrick Demarchelier behind the lens and our favorite J.Crew model, Lily Aldridge, in front. Do you like?

For the past couple seasons, Donna Karan has chosen to use runway footage for their ads. It was a smart, frugal approach in tough economic times. For Spring, the house has chosen a big league, Patrick Demarchelier, to shoot the gently bold collection. Model Anna J. was captured in New York, and the results are inspired by "the power of elements, capturing the movement and ethereal feel of the collection." It's lovely, slightly spiritual - very Donna Karan. Do you fancy it?

Fab Ad: BCBG Fall '08

BCBG ads have never blown me away . . . until now. Serafima, Tanya D and Nicole Trunfio show off the clothes wonderfully, despite blurry visions passing to and fro. Patrick Demarchelier captured the youth, beauty, and even an element of cool for the brand. The models are a bit whitewashed, but I suppose that makes the images more striking; they look like mannequins. Normally I would like a bit more personality from the talent, but the talent was all in the clothes and behind the lens. I can't wait to see this one in a full glossy, what about you?

Fab Flash: Karen Elson Named New BCBG Postergirl

It never ceases to amaze me how fast model moms kick it into high gear postbirth: First with Natalia Vodianova walking the Paris runways three weeks after having her third child and now with Karen Elson, who has just been named the face of BCBG's Spring campaign.

Karen gave birth to her second child in August and replaces another model mom, Angela Lindvall. Patrick Demarchelier photographed the series, which is sure to be stunning - Karen's light complexion and blazing red hair will look perfect in BCBG's washed-out Spring collection.

Fab Flash: Vogue India Launches

The inaugural issue of Vogue India hit stands today, featuring Bollywood stars Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, local supermodels MoniKangana Dutta and Laxmi Menon, and Australian supermodel Gemma Ward all on the cover, shot by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier.

This new edition of Vogue is expected to be more colorful and more vibrant than the western models, according to Alex Kuruvilla, managing director of Conde Nast India. He also expects it to draw attention to Indian designers, Indian photographers, and even Indian models. The Vogue India woman has the best of both the eastern and western worlds: she wears Jimmy Choo shoes along with her traditional Indian garb.

Beyoncé Knowles Covers W's Music Issue Along With Christina Aguilera

Beyoncé Knowles and Christina Aguilera shared the honor of covering July's music edition of W. Both singers are at exciting points in their careers - Christina has found a new outlet on TV with NBC's The Voice while Beyoncé is gearing up for the release of her new album 4. Beyoncé spoke to the magazine about her vision and inspiration for the tracks, even revealing the important meaning of the record's title. Beyoncé said in W:

On her vision: "When I sing a song, I definitely have the image for the video in my mind. I kind of hear the choreography that will be in the video, and I can see how I’ll look, even before anyone - the record company, the director - has heard the song."
On her new record: "I wanted this record to come from a raw place. Playing Etta James in the movie Cadillac Records really changed me. It was a darker character, and I realized that if anything is too comfortable, I want to run from it. It’s no fun being safe."
On the symbolism of her album's title: "The fans have named the album 4. And four is my favorite number. It’s an important number in my life: the date of my birthday, my mom’s birthday, my husband’s birthday, the day I got married. Barack Obama is the 44th president, and I performed ‘At Last’ by Etta James at his inauguration."

Jessica Alba and Honor were side by side on the swings at an LA park yesterday. The mother-daughter duo spent the casual day together after pregnant Jessica got dressed up for a photo shoot with Patrick Demarchelier on Saturday. She also stepped out for a fancy date night with Cash Warren last week, before he and a friend headed to SXSW in Austin, TX. Jake Gyllenhaal premiered Source Code with his costars to kick off the festival, though Cash's schedule seemed a little more up in the air.

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt Land at LAX Hand in Hand

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt stayed close as they exited LAX yesterday. They took a quick trip out of town over the weekend after spending the previous Sunday in the spotlight at the Emmys. John and Emily were one of the cutest couples at the Emmys, where The Office was up for outstanding comedy. Steve Carell was also nominated for his work on the series, though he lost out to The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons. It was Steve's last chance to be honored for his Michael Scott character since he left the cast, though the show is continuing on without him. John and his costars got lots of laughs during the season premiere last week, which revealed that Ed Helms's Andy would be filling the regional manager position. John's wife, Emily, has her own new role as the face of the YSL Opium campaign and the ads, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, will debut next month.
