For Paul & Joe's Fall 2012 collection, Sophie Albou showed a luxe menswear-inspired line filled with louche trousers, baggy overcoats, pajama suiting, and plenty of feminine touches to temper the mood. Wearability was key; cropped bomber coats were paired with skinny pants, oversized leopard-print trousers were styled with slouchy sweaters, and printed sheath dresses were tempered with long and lean tailored blazers. Meanwhile, a lineup of luxurious fur coats, sheer lace tops, and velvet separates added an opulent touch to every look. Basically, we'd like to get our hands on every piece. Sophie Albou showed off a spirited Spring 2012 collection for Paul & Joe highlighting a mix of utilitarian and ethnic influences. While we're used to seeing one or the other, Albou was able to meld the two trends together pairing vibrant printed maxiskirts with silk button-up shirts, patent double-breasted blazers with tribal print bikini bottoms, and utility pants with sexy metallic knits. White fringed dresses and ponchos added a bohemian touch to the collection, while printed overalls provided the whimsy Albou is known for. If you're a sucker for cool packaging and pretty colors like I am, then the new Paul & Joe Symphony holiday makeup collection should be right up your alley. The old-fashioned floral motif and delicate colors are reminiscent of an earlier era, and the "sheet music" eye shadow singles are beautiful and super-convenient. For my money, I'd say the Holiday Eye and Lip Color Kit in Adagio ($58) is definitely the best bet, but the Autumn Nail Enamel in Sonata or Orchestral ($14) is also on trend and eminently covetable.

In another life, I'd be a fabulous French femme who strolled the streets of Paris in simple but chic outfits. An Isabel Marant dress here, a sequined Vanessa Bruno tote there, and a Paul & Joe coat to top it all off - so French, so chic. Unfortunately, not only am I not even vaguely French, I also can't afford the steep prices of those clothes.

What I can splurge on, however, feels just as French without making such a hard hit on my pocketbook. Paul & Joe Beauté has the cutest limited-edition Starlet palette ($38). It's a trio of super-versatile shadows: a slightly sparkly light mauve, a smoky dark amethyst, and a matte deep purple. So whether I want to do a nonchalant, "I'm shopping in the Marais" nearly-nude eye look or a sexier, "It's 2 a.m. and we've just left Nouveau Casino" eyeliner-heavy one, this floral compact makes me feel like a gallic gal - even if my morning croissant isn't quite authentic.
