Phoebe Philo played with proportions, and little else, for her Spring 2012 collection. There were cocoon sleeve jackets, cinched with extra-wide belts, trousers dressed up with sculpted peplum details that looked like they had been influenced by a Frank Gehry building, and peplum. The minimalist mood remained strong, and while some of the oversized proportions seem hard to wear in real life, there were slimmer silhouettes that would work for every day: slim blouses tucked into low-waisted pleated skirts, crisp shirtdresses, and a definite must-have, ankle-strap platform heel. We'll have the full collection - and review - to present soon, but for now, check out some highlights.

Do You Want to See Marc Jacobs Take Over Dior?

The seat at Dior has been left empty since John Galliano was ousted for racist remarks, but it looks like LVMH chair Bernard Arnault might be close to announcing a new successor for the French brand: Marc Jacobs. According to WWD, Bernard Arnault is currently is in serious talks with Marc Jacobs about becoming the new designer for Dior, but where does that leave Arnault's other big brand, Louis Vuitton? Apparently, Phoebe Philo is said to be first in line to take over the title at Vuitton, and, if she does, she will also maintain her position at Celine. In the midst off all of the shuffling, would you be excited to see Marc Jacobs design for Dior?

The Jumpsuit Is Here to Stay

When jumpsuits reemerged a few years ago, we all wondered if the trend had legs (no pun intended). The song Dancing Queen kept popping into our head each time we looked at one. Then stylish ladies like Gwyneth, Rachel Zoe, and Kate Bosworth were spotted in them. Most recently, one of fashion's most respected designers, Phoebe Philo of Celine, rocked one at the British Fashion Awards, and we fell in love with all the jumpsuits on the Spring '11 runways. Jumpsuits can be totally sexy when you wear it right: not too tight, minimal accessories. Here, a look at some of our favorites.

Phoebe Philo's Coats Céline in Camel: Love It or Hate It?

Can you believe it's already been a year since it was announced Phoebe Philo would serve as creative director of Céline? Time has flown and the British designer has designed her first major collection for the house. She dipped her feet with Cruise '10, but she's taken the plunge with Spring '10. The result is lots of camel - leather mini skirts, high-waist trousers, drawstring tops. There are a few black, white, and forest green pieces in there, but for the most part it's a camel world of sharp sportswear. What do you think?

While we eagerly anticipate Phoebe Philo's debut Celine collection, let's take a gander at Ivana Omazic's last hurrah. For Celine's Spring '09 campaign, the designer chose redhead beauty Karen Elson to show off her selection of luxuriously colorful handbags, frocks, and chic outerwear. I like how photographer Bruce Weber contrasted Karen's red hot locks against the stark background. However, I find myself staring at Karen more than the clothes and bags. Nonetheless, it's beautiful. What do you think?

Fab Flash: Celine Taps Phoebe Philo

After two years under the radar, Phoebe Philo is back with a bang as the new creative director of Celine.

"I want to create clothes, shoes, bags and accessories that are relevant to right now - modern, exciting designs that women will desire and appreciate," said Philo.

Before taking a couple years off to spend time with her family, Philo served as the creative director of Chloé. The British designer was responsible for the brand's successful feminine meets cool aesthetic with high-waisted jeans, stack heeled buckled boots, and the highly coveted Paddington bag. Stay tuned for when her first collection for Celine will debut.

Fashion Metamorphosis: Chloé

If we're going to talk about fashion metamorphoses, we can't overlook Chloé. That would be like talking about chocolate and not mentioning Godiva. Like many fashion houses, Chloé has changed hands several times, but what makes it stand out is its desirable roster (Karl Lagerfeld in the late '60s, Stella McCartney in late '90s, and Phoebe Philo from 2001-2006). Many fashion insiders, including myself, were shocked by the recent announcement that creative director Paulo Melim Andersson was being replaced by former assistant director to Valentino, Hannah MacGibbon. The reason behind the split is unknown, though some attribute it to a difference of opinion over where the brand should be headed.

read more Naturally, with the change of hands at fashion houses, the designs will vary slightly or drastically. In Chloé's case, I'd say it's been more subtle than drastic. Founder and French designer Gaby Aghion, who invented Ready-to-Wear as a rejection of the stiff formality of the '50s fashion, set the tone with soft, body-conscious clothes. Karl brought in romance with gauzy blouses and long skirts. Stella (left) threw in a streetwise mix of vintage lingerie to the romance, while Phoebe (center) injected sexy daywear and fluid lines. Though short-lived, Paulo (right) took Chloé to a more artsy place. One similarity to note between all Chloé designers is the innovative use of sheerness. We have yet to see what Hannah will do for the brand, but there's a good chance she'll reenact the Phoebe Philo years since she worked closely with the designer, originally as a part of the design team and later as chief designer. I'll take that and I'm sure Chloé-fan Kate Bosworth will agree!
