I am totally drooling over this look from Fab reader atlanticpacific - she gets major style points for taking risks, playing with height, and adding some retro edge to her ensemble. She rocked a pair of skinny cropped trousers with an elongating vertical stripe, a slouchy plaid button-up, and gray suede heels. She accessorized her cool look with a chunky gold chain and a chic stack of bangles. It's a great example of going out on a limb with your look.

Look of the Day: Mad For Plaid

Fall is in full swing, and this crisp and cute look from Fab reader fashionfou made me all warm and toasty inside! I love how she paired a slouchy mad for plaid top with pin-thin jeans and chunky black clogs - and the caramel-colored faux-fur coat is great to have on-hand in case of a sudden drop in temperature.

Cheap & Chic: Plaid Button-Downs

We can all agree that $250 for a plaid button-down top is too much. Such was the case with Lauren Conrad's cute, albeit overpriced, Elizabeth and James shirt. Alas, plaid is already on the move to becoming a Fall frenzy, so get ahead of the trend on the cheap. I do, however, recommend teaming your plaid shirt with foxy high heels a la LC - this takes the look from totally geek to totally chic.
