Vanessa Williams has got some serious plumage going on here in this mint green Kevan Hall gown. She is also continuing with the bare neck trend, however in this case I think it works. What do you think - would Wilhelmina Slater approve of Vanessa's red carpet look?

Trend Alert: Special Runway Edition! Plumage

I am in a trend alert lull. Don't get me wrong - there are always enough trends to go around. But you see, we're at this point in the season where the Summer sales are dwindling down but we're being romanced by the new collections in the glossy mags - though items are not yet fully in stores.

I'm ready for Fall! There, I said it. I'm not necessarily ready to shop (or ready for the weather) but I'm ready to feature the new trends and fresh Fall offerings. While in this fashion flux, I was browsing through the Fashion Fix Runway Style group and thought it would be fun to zero in on some of the more dramatic Fall trends to see if you all dig them, loathe them and, most importantly, are inspired by them.

Let's begin with a little plumage shall we? Feathers floated, flocked and freaked out on the runways. While I think the luxurious lightweight material can add a certain something to a hem or lovely texture, I'll take my plumage Louis Vuitton style (middle). While it is quite elegant for evening, as exhibited by Marchesa (left); it can also leave you looking like a freak show, like on British designer Giles' runway (right). A trend I think only the wealthy or red carpet worthy will end up pulling off - I am already fearing feathery knock offs. Does this trend ruffle your feathers? Or are you feather ready?

Paris Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Louis Vuitton

Severe plumage. Lavish layering. Exotic undertones. Intrigued? You should be. Marc Jacobs's Spring collection for Louis Vuitton is eye candy at its best. Much like his Spring namesake collection, this delivery is maximist. Pick and choose from an array of luxurious delights and make Louis Vuitton a look all your own.I'm swooning over the banded and heavily embellished dresses, the sharp-shouldered blazers (not sick of them yet, no), the quirky separates, and the semi-ridiculous accessories. And the plumage! And the colors! And with a chic Parisian flair. While many folks pared things down given the economic uncertainty, Vuitton delivered a high-octane carnival of clothes.

Trend Alert: Feathery Friends

It's all about texture, and more texture. Meet my new feathery friends. The hybrid of feather and fluff makes for a fun vintage look. Check out how Kate rocked an extra voluminous bronze Burberry frock, while Nicole Kidman radiated in a white shaggy mini by L'Wren Scott at the Australia premiere. If you're not keen on wearing this look head-to-toe, try separates like Tomei in her Alberta Ferretti skirt. Take the plumage and shake a tail feather.

Feathers and Hotties at the 2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Let the pajama party begin. Plumage, perfectly toned (and tanned) bodies, sequins, lace, and ruffles, and, of course, Heidi Klum, all make up the holiday cocktail known as the Victoria's Secret fashion show. Victoria's Secret ignored economic uncertainty with a full-blown lingerie love affair at Miami's newest hot spot: The Fontainebleau hotel. When asked about this year's show, Ed Razek, VS’s president and chief marketing officer said, “Quite candidly, I think people are looking for a little escape right now." While many a celeb and pretty face turned out for not one, but two runway shows, there was more than enough escape to go around.The show will air on CBS on Dec. 3., but we've got the sparkly splendor for you now. With Usher performing, VS angels Selita Ebanks, Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, and Miranda Kerr strutted their hot stuff, as well as high fashion models like Lara Stone, Julia Stegner, and Behati Prinsloo. It was refreshing to see a couple classic faces like Carmen Kass and Noemie Lenoir, too. Whatever your fantasy, these girls wore an outfit to fulfill it. From bedazzled bras - Adriana Lima wore the the $5 million black diamond bra - to black lace bodysuits, cozy cuties, sci-fi getups, and dramatic wings, Victoria's Secret brought it full force.

Trend Alert: Dancing Feathers

Plumage continues to plow its way through fashion. Thanks to fashion risk takers like Rihanna we're even witnessing dancing feathers. Feathers, with their inherent fluff and flow, tend to dance with every step, but in the case of her Elizabeth and James blazer, they (almost) stole the show. Fabworthy: Elizabeth and James Tulip Dress

Peacocks are one of my favorite animals. Every time I go to the zoo, I'm taken aback by how sightly they are compared to the rest of the animals. Before I get to gushing about this Fabworthy Elizabeth and James Tulip Dress ($495), I have to ask: Did you know that male peacocks are more beautiful than their female counterparts? It's the males who have iridescent blue-green plumage, while the females have dull green, brown, and grey feathers. Sad.

On a happier note, the fact that this dress, which we recently gave away, has a peacock-feather print makes it extra special. I love the uneven hemline, but what I appreciate most is the contrast between the black elastic bodice and the delicate silk-chiffon bottom. Ravishing.

Fab's Oscars Number One . . . and Two and Three!

I haven't really thought of anything or talked to anyone about anything but the Oscars in the past 24 hours. Some may think this is unhealthy, I think it's completely normal. You've seen the ladies and their gowns, you've voted on your faves, and Oscar Monday has come to a close. And so, I present to you my favorites from the star-studded red carpet. This time, there was no one stand-out dress. Three ladies were Fab top to bottom, beginning with your best-dressed Heidi Klum . . .

So she wasn't up for an award. Heidi wins your best-dressed vote and mine - so that should make Heidi even more happy. Heidi confessed she worked with John Galliano on the custom Dior - that is up for auction benefiting women's heart health. I wonder whose idea it was to go over-the-top regal red. No matter, it was a great collaboration. From the high collar to the grandiose train, this dramatic gown saved the runway from a boring demise.

Her pink diamond earrings, fuchsia clutch, and candy-colored jewels brought the look to a flirtatious place. Who said you can't mix pink and red? Not Heidi.

I forgive Penelope for not wearing the artsy Dolce & Gabbana gown I picked out for her, I guess. Chanel Haute Couture is a nice alternative - especially when it's dramatic and feathery. I've professed my love for black on the red carpet and this is the perfect example of why: It's dramatic, unique, and worn with confidence. Though it's strapless - a neckline I am so over - it's a plumage-infused one. Also, she added a splash of red with her Chopard earrings. To die.

Another stunning red-wearing winner, Heigl continues to impress on the red carpet. The fit of this crimson Escada dress is impeccable. I am very nit picky about fit on the red carpet - there is no excuse for a dress not fitting correctly. She went all out with red lips and bouncy hair and her cylindrical diamond earrings are awesome. Her waist looks teensy and her shoulders sexy - especially the left one with the circle detailing. Heigl has won me over in the past year, especially here.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Bill Blass

Electric blue fur, perfectly voluminous cocktail dresses, intense plumage . . . don't make it stop!

Ladies and gents, I do believe Peter Som has come into his own at the house of Bill Blass. No longer just for ladies who lunch - though they will appreciate the grey metallic separates and luxe pant suits - this collection is simply fabulous.

I have been won over by the black and white florals, sculptural craftsmanship, and sexy tailored vests And the colors: A fun mix of black, white, grey and pops of glam rockin' cobalt, teal, and plum. Are you loving this as much as me?!

Spring 2008 Couture: Chanel

Karl has interpreted an arctic freeze and only he could make frigid fashion look so desirable. With an icy palette of gray, black, and white, there was plenty of detailing and tailoring to keep the eyes happy. Some of the sophisticated and ultra-chic ensembles actually made me shiver - this mini-fied black and white suit for one.

Tiered ruffles and volumes were modern maneuvers, creating a slight Chanel cupcake aesthetic. Plumage and beading was a slight nod to Armani, but don't get me wrong: Karl does this very well, too. All towering over covetable ballet flats, this couture collection was sweet, but ultimately fierce.
