There's no denying that resort collections put you in a vacationing mood. Rebecca Taylor's Resort '09 line does precisely that. As I was flipping through the colorful look book, I was envisioning what exotic locale I would wear each outfit to. Bora Bora, Greece, Amalfi Coast all crossed my mind. Tweed shorts, neon tanks, lightweight cardigans, florals, maxis, and ruffles are just some of the offerings I would pack with me. Drew Barrymore recently heated up the desert in her asymmetrical Gucci Resort '08. She has a tendency to dress very laid-back, but when she gets dolled up, I fall in love all over again. There's one minor problem in this equation: The asymmetrical frock is way out of my budget. But wait . . . as always, there's a genius look for less!

I was casually perusing the UO when I was stopped by this Lux Prismatic Dress ($58). It's as close to the Gucci dress as we're going to get. All you need to do is add a patent belt, a brooch and you're good to go, Drew style!

Paul & Joe Awa Bow Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Paul & Joe's resort collection has just arrived at Shopbop and I am sort of liking Paul & Joe's Awa Bow Dress ($341). Even though the voluminous sleeves can be trendy, Nina Garcia says in her Little Black Book of Style to buy with drama sometimes. Still, I wouldn't pay that much for a faddish dress. Maybe when it goes on sale? What do you think?

Like Neimans and Saks, Shopbop has rolled out its resort collections. What's exciting is that we can actually afford some of the pieces, like this Tibi Easy Shift Dress ($275). It goes hand in hand with the artsy floral trend.

True, it's cold in most places by now, but there's nothing like colorful duds to make you dream of mai tais and beaches. There are loads of tank tops, sandals, sunnies, handbags, swimwear, shorts, and jersey dresses. So go on, get your resort on.

On Our Radar: Scoop Beach Collection to Debut

Scoop NYC has created an exciting collection for ladies who love designer resort collections but would rather not spend a fortune.

Scoop Beach, set to launch in February, will not just be for vacation getaways. "This is not stuff to [simply] go to the beach in," said Stefani Greenfield, co-owner of the store. "We're going to have this in our stores all year long."

Fifteen Scoop NYC shops, as well as other department stores, will carry the collection, which includes a variety of dresses, woven tops, knitwear, pants, scarves, sandals, handbags, and more. If you don't live near a Scoop, an online store is coming soon. Items ranging from $55 to $445 aren't cheap, but they sure beat, say Prada's resort collection. I'll take that.
