Fab's December Most Wanted

Another year gone by, another year to come! Every year seems plentiful if you keep your watch on the ever-fickle world of fashion. What was in a year ago is not so in now, in some cases though, trends prevail. This can be interpreted on a personal level too. December is a time to reflect back on the year and think good thoughts; I never think it's healthy to start a new year as a negative Nancy. So let's raise our glasses and kick up our booties in an ode to 2007. Here are some things to get me through the stressful, but blissful, final month of the year.

Jetsetting is on my mind and I think it's time I invest in some posh luggage, like this Samsonite Vintage Duffel on Wheels ($600).
Resort collections means new and fresh clothes. This Tracy Reese Three Tone Knit Dress ($360) is adorable.
I am officially in love with the Yves Saint Laurent black quilted patent leather 'Tribute' large tote ($1,195). Not because it's in the ads with Gisele, because I prefer a hobo style and this is sleek as hell.

I'm no procrastinator but once October hits the rest of the year tends to fly by and I feel boggled down. I always find the time to stop and eat the candy once Halloween rolls around though - the holiday that encourages you to exhibit your creativity and release inhibitions. A Fabby Halloween: Simply Irresistible

You've heard me go on about how much I love Robert Palmer girls before. Not to sound like a broken record but they are too cool for school. They first appeared in his "Addicted to Love" video and were so popular he decided to include them in his similar, but better, video for the Fab song "Simply Irresistible." The song rocks, he rocks, the girls rock. And as a costume, this look is easy, cheeky and sexy. I would announce yourself as being ""Simply Irresistible," not just a Robert Palmer girl - it's more alluring.

For props, an electric guitar is ideal, but I threw in a little electric guitar necklace if you don't want to be too literal. These girls were all eye candy and didn't speak a word, but their dance moves were spicy. I'd learn some and you'll be the life of the party.

Also, a key accessory is the heavy makeup and slicked back hair so learn how to deliver it with precision and then knock 'em dead!

Fab Ad: Valentino Fall/Winter 2007

Mr. Garavani appointed quite the triumvirate for his Fall ad representation: Gemma Ward, Daria Werbowy, and Hilary Rhoda. The girls are lookin' good in Va-Va's trademark red dresses and matching red lipstick. Just look at those swooning poses and smoky eyes - there is some serious drama going on here! As the last ad campaign under the now retired designer's direction, I'd say this is the perfect ode to the glamorous Italian fashion house.

In closing, I love how the light is coming through blinds: does anyone else see American Gigolo meets Robert Palmer here?

FABTV: Robert Palmer "Simply Irresistible"

I have seen this video I don't know how many times; especially since I was "Simply Irresistible" for Halloween this past year. I tell ya: it's a very easy, cheap costume and it's really fun! The boys love it. I mean, wasn't this a total male fantasy? A GQ guy surrounded by femme fatales in tight black mini dresses with pouty red lips who would sway their hips, and shoulders, from side-to-side. And then you have the dancing posse - I actually memorized this routine for my costume (I go all out on Halloween). I suppose we could do without the wet dancers in goggles and the freak train of purple mini skirts but the rest is...simply irresistible.

A Fabby Halloween: Romy and Michele

With my own high school reunion looming over me, I can't help but rejoice in the '97 chick flick Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. My night will surely not have me laughing every five minutes (actually, maybe), be filled with candy colored clothes (actually, maybe), and have the ever-hilarious Janeane Garofalo storming through (if only). Romy and Michele are the cutest losers I've ever met - and they love to dress up. Grab your hottest homie and find some blond wigs. From there, opt to be Romy and Michele by day - you just need casual but funky separates. Or, Romy and Michele on the dance floor in metallic Barbie-girl dresses and platform sandals. Lastly, you can be faux Post-It inventors in Robert Palmer babe black. The many lovable personalities of these kooky blondes can all be done on a dime, so what are you waiting for?

Fab Ad: Gianfranco Ferre Fall '09

I've got a serious soft spot for beautiful people - ahem, Julia Stegner, Malgosia and Javier de Miguel - lounging around in gorgeous clothes surrounded by moody shadows. Remember Valentino's Robert Palmer-esque Fall ads? Loved 'em. With a new design team on tap, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi of 6267, I expect we'll be seeing more fabulousness from this Italian fashion house. Don't you wish you could just lounge around with these folks? All the limbs, flowing hair, dark clothes and strong accessories are super seductive. The images were supposed to convey a '40s scenario, but I see something set more in the power-fueled '80s. Do you want to join this lounge party?
