Christina Aguilera's much talked about Rock the Vote ad premiered yesterday and exactly as advertised it features her tender singing with a flag-swaddled Max in her arms. On Larry King Live last month, Christina talked about how her spot was inspired my Madonna's Rock the Vote ad from 1990, which has a decidedly different feel but the same ultimate message. Check them both out below and let us know - which Rock the Vote ad wins, new Christina Aguilera or vintage Madonna?

Christina Wraps Her Kid in a Flag to Rock the Vote - Wrong?

New mom Christina Aguilera is politically active - and getting her son involved early - by appearing with him in an ad for Rock the Vote due out this summer. The message of the ad is great - but is the image chosen to trumpet the cause reason to sound the alarm?
Aguilera's son appears in the ad, swaddled in the American flag.

Aguilera said of her decision to make the ad, "This election in particular is such an exciting and historical one, and so I was proud to have my son and I stand together for such a powerful moment and message in time." Rock the Vote, which turns 18 this year, isn't a stranger to controversial imagery. Madonna made a similar Get Out the Vote ad in 1990 showing the Material Girl wrapped in a flag of her own. Is this just what's required to get the young 'uns attention?

Though this rule from USFlag.org is quite clear, "The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything," does the fact that she possibly did it to bring attention to the cause of voting make it less outrageous? Rock the Vote has given out 850,000 voter registration cards this year. Is that a good trade off?

I've never been much of a T-shirt gal, but with all this buzz around the 2008 presidential election candidates, I think it's important to show we're in the know through fashion. These Rock the Vote Tees ($44 each), are stylish enough for us fashion-conscious Fabbies. They come in bright and neutral colors, depending on your support style. Plus, they kind of remind me of the popular House of Holland fashion groupie tees. My fave is the Hillary You Go Girl Tee because it's sassy and smart. I wonder which one CitizenSugar would rock?

American Idol: Did Phillip Phillips Deserve to Win?

After 132 million votes, Phillip Phillips is the winner of American Idol season 11. The finale was a total talent blowout. Cars were given to the top two (and their mentors), a number of bedazzled spandex bodysuits were rocked, and Jane Lynch was in the audience! Steven Tyler showed off his sloth and Idol alums Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo even got engaged on stage! But let's talk music.

Phillip got to have a jam session with Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty and Jessica Sanchez sang with Tony-winner Jennifer Holliday. But the finalists weren't the only ones who got to perform with their musical inspirations; second runner-up Joshua Ledet sang with his personal idol Fantasia Barrino, Skylar Laine jammed with Reba McEntire, and Hollie Cavanagh lit up the stage with Jordin Sparks. Legends Chaka Khan and Neil Diamond were also there, J Lo and Aerosmith brought down the house, and Rihanna performed her hit "Where Have You Been." Inevitably, it was all foreplay to the moment when Ryan called out Phillip's name. So what did you think? Are you surprised? Was the right winner chosen?

American Idol: Who Deserves to Win Season 11?

It's been a long trek, American Idol watchers. Months after the initial search began, we've finally made it to finals week. If I feel this exhausted, then I can't imagine how finalists Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips feel, especially after the three performances they each had to rock before the last round of voting. As Jennifer Lopez noted tonight, our final two could not be more different. Jessica is a pint-sized ballad singer with a mean vocal range, but Phillip has an insane ability to take songs and turn them into his own wonderful Phillip Phillips brand.

Jessica started out the night with Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing," winning the judges' endorsement for the first round against Phillip's classic "Stand by Me." They were a little more split after the second round, when Jessica covered Celine Dion's "The Prayer" and Phillip did a little Billy Joel with "Movin' Out." Come the last round, Phillip scored the only standing ovation of the night after his rendition of "Home," and he deserved it. The marching band and soft vocals showed off Phillip's true artistry, and Jessica's unremarkable "Change Nothing" didn't stand a chance.

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise Don't Let the Weather Rain on Their Parade

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise spent a rainy NYC afternoon together yesterday. The mother and daughter held hands as they walked along the city streets and were even spotted breaking out in a playful sprint. When the rain picked up, Suri protected her baby doll from the elements under an umbrella while her mom followed closely behind. Katie and Suri are back in the Big Apple after spending some time in Louisiana recently.

Tom Cruise has been in Baton Rouge filming Oblivion, in which he plays a soldier stuck on Earth following the apocalypse. Audiences will next see the actor take on a more lighthearted role, however, in Rock of Ages. Tom grew out his hair to play an '80s rocker alongside an all-star cast that also includes Mary J. Blige and Alec Baldwin. Tom is one of several major movie stars in this year's Pop 100 Faceoff, so don't forget to cast your vote for a chance at $2,500!

Community Moves to Fridays and More From NBC's New Fall Schedule

NBC is the first network to take center stage at the upfronts this week, which means we'll be hearing more about NBC's new Fall shows in the coming days. But for now, we've got your first peek at the new schedule. Most of NBC's veteran series are staying in their old time slots, but the network has also added The Voice to the Fall lineup, and notably moved Whitney and Community to Friday nights. This has me a bit worried about the fate of Community, since the show has been having a tough enough time as it is, but it could also be a vote of confidence that the comedy's loyal fan base will follow the Greendale gang wherever they go.

Beyoncé Knowles was one of the very last to arrive at the Met Gala in NYC tonight, but she still managed to make quite the entrance! Beyoncé's wore a sexy lace Givenchy gown that pooled into a long train of vivid blueish-purple feathers. Beyoncé's light blue pedicure peeked out from under her gown, so even though she was out on the town, B still kept Blue Ivy close to her heart. Beyoncé has been rocking the nail color since giving birth to her baby girl just a few months ago. Last year, Beyoncé needed some help from husband Jay-Z to get up the carpeted staircase in her tight Pucci number, while this evening she was joined by friend and Vogue's former editor at large, Andre Leon Talley. American Idol: Was the Right Person Voted Off?

Elise Testone is the latest casualty on season 11 of American Idol. The gritty-voiced classic rock singer had been in the bottom a number of times but had narrowly avoided getting the axe until this week. The judges had consistently praised her for her talent, but implored her to choose songs that would sway an audience to pick up the phone and vote for her. In the end, they were right.

I think Elise had come to the conclusion that she wasn't going to win, and that's exactly why she chose to sing Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love," a song that she loved, this week. The fact remains that while Elise has a wonderful, unique voice, so do the other remaining contestants. As Randy would say, the competition is fierce this year, yo. Will you miss Elise, or are you looking forward to the competition without her?

Jennifer Lopez and the American Idol Judges Say Goodbye to Colton Dixon

American Idol rocked its West Hollywood studios last night with performances from LMFAO and former winner Kris Allen. The program closed by sending home Colton Dixon. Colton received the fewest amount of votes following his Wednesday night arrangements of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and Earth, Wind & Fire's "September." Next week the six remaining hopefuls return to face the judges, inching closer to the May 24 finale when the next Idol is crowned.

LMFAO got the crowd on their feet last night, and today they have even more reason to celebrate. The 2012 Billboard Music Award nominees were announced this morning, and just behind Adele, who earned 18 nods, was LMFAO with a staggering 17 nominations for their Party Rockers album. The Billboard Music Awards take place May 20 with major acts in the music industry expected to perform their chart-topping hits.
