As you know, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's contemporary line, The Row, is named after the famous Savile Row of London, a shopping street in central London known for its custom-made tailoring. If you're curious as to why the twins were intrigued by that particular district, then pick up The London Cut: Savile Row Bespoke Tailoring by James Sherwood ($17). It presents both the style and story of a street that continues to inspire fashion today. Icons of Savile Row's past include Cary Grant and John Lennon, and Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen were both trained there.

We finally have a sneak peek at Mary Kate and Ashley's most recent creations for their fashion line, The Row. Named after Savile Row, a corner in Central London famous for its top-notch tailored suits, their line has been pretty hush hush since its launch last Fall. I actually went to Barneys in Manhattan a couple of months ago to purchase a piece or two, but the only thing left was one simple black tank dress and it was crazily overpriced. Those clothes are selling like hotcakes!

Not surprisingly, The Row's latest collection is mainly filled with blacks and some fur; basically things the two petite twins would sport on a day-to-day basis. No word yet on when this collection will hit and in which stores, but my assumption is Fall and at Barneys.

Ziji Garbardine Button Down Dress: Love It or Hate It?

This tailored dress reminds me of Alexander McQueen's early days. While I am a huge McQueen fan I realize not everyone finds his off-kilter tailoring very wearable. By Ziji, $330, and available here this cool steel colored dress is made from a Dacron/wool blend and has clean asymmetric hemming. A little Sci-Fi, a lot Savile Row. Would you wear this? Love it or Hate it?

One For The Guys: Armani's Custom-Made Suits

In 2005 Giorgio Armani launched a very special haute-couture collection for women called Prive. For almost two years, the men have waited their turn, and now the time has come: Armani just launched his newest specialty for men, dubbed Fatto a Mano su Misura, or "handmade to measure" in boring old English.

The new line offers two different style options for suit jackets and blazers, which may sound like slim pickings until you hear about the endless array of choices regarding fabrics, colors, buttons, pockets, and other details. Giorgio himself is very excited about this handsome collection, recently telling Time magazine: "My intention is to create a different kind of excellence, one that reflects my own personal aesthetic of bringing the traditional and the modern together while respecting the craft the Savile Row has for so long made its own."

Fatto a Mano su Misura first launched in London and Milan and will now be available in 13 Armani boutiques worldwide, including shops in New York and Los Angeles. Suit prices range from $2,500 to $10,000.
