The Sartorialist's Next Ventures: Clothing and TV

Scott Schuman's had a big year, but 2010 might be even greater. While promoting his awesome book at the Sass and Bide store in Sydney, Australia, The Sartorialist revealed details on an upcoming clothing line and TV show.

"But also there's maybe a TV show coming up, maybe a clothing collection coming up. There's a lot of negotiating going on right now . . . I was offered a lot of shows before and I don't think the companies were right that were asking me. But this company I think is right. It's a very well known director and all, they're a company. . . . So maybe there's a TV show, maybe there's an accessories collection that might lead into a full clothing collection. So there's a lot of other things coming up but it's still early in the process, " said Schuman. We're tickled pink.

FabSugar Exclusive! The Sartorialist Signs and Chats With Fab

I've never seen such a thing in San Francisco: When we left the book signing of The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman at the Paul Smith store last night, the line to get in was down the block and around the corner. It's safe to say the street-style photog is a star. Book in hand, we approached the dapper Scott, who's completely handsome and respectable in person. He signed away, we chic chatted.
So why did he pick Julie, the New Yorker, for the cover? He explained how every time he posts Julie's picture on The Sartorialist, people comment about how perfect she is, so chic, so modern. But what they don't know is that she's less perfect than most because one leg is slightly shorter than the other. She's not traditionally perfect, but she knows how to work her imperfections and has a great pose. Selecting her for the cover had a deeper meaning than just someone who looked great.

read more Anyone who reads Scott's site knows that he's going out with French street-style photographer, Garance Doré. We mentioned to him how cute she is, and he corrected us, "she's totally hot!" He then proceeded to turn to page 314 of the book to show us the moment Garance fell in love with him two years ago. In the photo, she has a beaming, genuine smile. 'Tis love. Favorite color? Blue! Favorite designers? Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Marni, and Marc Jacobs. Favorite cocktail? Margarita. East Coast or West Coast? East - gasp from the audience - what did you think I was going to say? The Sartorialist Pens a Book

I can seriously blow hours perusing The Sartorialist. So many people, so many fresh outfits. Snapping unique ensembles and fabulous people has become Scott Schuman's forte, so naturally, the next step is penning his own book. The Sartorialist ($17) is a compilation of his favorite shots from around the world spanning oceans and continents. "During all the fashion weeks I am approached by many photographers, Scott is the only one who can ask me to cross the street for better light and I do it," said Carine Roitfeld. "I love his portraits." I second that motion.

Fab Ad: DKNY Jeans Spring '09

Those of you who are fans of street style blogs will probably dig the DKNY Jeans Spring '09 ads, shot by The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman. This is the photographer's first major campaign, but he's no stranger to snapping well-dressed people on the streets. Chanel Iman, Sean Lennon, and Daisy Lowe are all his model subjects. And just to make it extra authentic, the cross streets where the photos were taken in NYC are listed. This style of ad is a departure for DKNY Jeans, but completely relevant to today. What do you think? Are these ads authentic-looking or not so much?

On Our Radar: Gap Announces Fall Campaign Lineup, Including Liv Tyler

Gap has long been known for choosing an eclectic mix of well-known A-listers and up-and-comers to star in their advertising campaigns. I already informed you about Ginnifer Goodwin's involvement in the upcoming Fall campaign, but the list goes on and on.

Actors Liv Tyler (who has modeled for the brand before, left), Hugh Dancy, Fabcon Clemence Poesy, Catalina Moreno, Edgar Ramirez, and photographers Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and Ryan McGinley are also featured in the ads, which will launch this Summer.
Rounding out the list are Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, Fab Face Chanel Iman, screenwriter David Benioff, Visionaire founder Cecilia Dean, and Misshapes DJ Leigh Lezark.
