Fashion to Interiors: Caramel Leather, Animal Prints, and Metallic Accessories

I'm constantly finding similarities between the pieces I'm coveting for my closet and the items I'm looking to incorporate in my home. I've pulled together an outfit and a home decor look that combines texture, bold prints, metallic hues, and yummy leather. See how I translate fashion to interiors with these two looks!

Even with a secretary blouse and heels, this Romantic Leather Skirt ($1,400) feels effortlessly cool. One of my favorite ways to achieve this look at home is by adding a piece of '70s-style furniture in buttery, caramel-colored leather. This Leather Butterfly Chair ($200) achieves the same earthy but slightly polished look at a great price point.

A metallic hybrid of sorts, this Sloan Lizard-Effect Metallic Leather Clutch ($220) works equally well with silver and gold accessories. I'm applying the same philosophy to this Armand Riviera Pendant ($375). A gold interior casts a warm glow against the hammered silver exterior - perfect for mixing up metallic decor!

I love incorporating animal prints into my wardrobe and decor, because they add a graphic punch but are classic prints. This Animal-Print Cotton and Silk-Blend Blouse ($1,100) feels especially polished with a tie-neck detail. I always gravitate toward a great animal-print layering piece for a room, like this Leather Zebra Cowhide Rug ($2,360).

Roberto Cavalli held nothing back for Spring '12, showing us a party-perfect collection filled with sexy gowns, vibrant printed pants, and lots of shimmer. Even if you're not a red-carpet regular or jet-setting to the next fashionable soiree, you can still appreciate (and lust after) Cavalli's highly detailed pieces like sheer printed gowns embellished with sexy lace insets along with sequin-crusted dresses and skirts. There's more party where that came from: jackets of the same sequined variety were also present in addition to fitted straight-leg pants splashed with vibrant prints, while bandeau tops reminded us to start working on our ab routine, stat. Soft silk pleated dresses tempered with streamlined blazers provided a subtler yet still scintillating option from Cavalli's high-glam look collection. More details below.

D&G Spring 2012

Opulent, silky prints ruled D&G's final runway show - and if you've ever wondered how to wear a scarf more than 10 different ways, this is it. For Spring 2012, Dolce & Gabbana's younger line showed us endless ways to adorn ourselves in silky, luxe prints - halter-tied flowing dresses, mini shorts, tunics, button-downs, wrap skirts, and even silk scarf-wrapped platforms and bags. Hardly any solids appeared at all - save for a denim-on-denim suit and a white button-down adding stark contrast to a pair of tailored silky, turquoise trousers and printed miniskirt. Whimsical and luxurious, we probably wouldn't feel right if we weren't wearing these pieces on a yacht somewhere off the Amalfi Coast.

Trends: Prints, denim, scarves.
Colors: Pink, green, blue, orange, multihued prints, polka dots.
Key Look: The silky, mixed prints looked amazing, but we're particularly obsessed with the silky print tunic over the floral print silk shorts.
Accessories: Scarf-wrapped platforms, major gold coin drop earrings and necklaces, small printed box clutches, larger, fringe-adorned printed clutches, and straw-trimmed floppy hats.
Who Would Wear It: Glamorous vacationers and die-hard D&G fans.

Karen Walker Spring 2012

No girl can resist Karen Walker's cool-girl style, and, as expected, the designer gave us more to look forward to with her Spring 2012 collection. Her "American Girl" theme, inspired by the classic flick Taxi Driver, showed gorgeous prints and soft tailoring. Described as "equal parts Betsey and Iris," the collection highlighted a mix of painterly florals, check, and polka-dot prints. Silhouettes were soft and louche as models - accessorized with the cutest printed turbans, sunglasses, patent loafers, and baseball caps - walked down the runway in a range of silk and crepe de Chine peplum blouses, strapless jumpers, shirt dresses, and pajama trousers. Rebecca Minkoff debuted a Spring collection today that will surely be sought after by a bevy of downtown girls. As DJ Mia Moretti mixed the soundtrack, the crowd - which included guests Sophia Bush, Chris Pine, Jessica Szohr, Alexis Bledel, and Michelle Trachtenberg - seemed mesmerized by Minkoff's "Desert-Love" collection featuring a sun-drenched color palette. Romantic billowy blouses, louche print trousers, sheer maxi dresses, and lace tops showed Minkoff's signature romantic touch, while leather separates and cutout dresses added edge. Minkoff's accessories collection was also in full force as the models held on to colorful clutches and chain bags. Down below, we spied a range of cutout booties and sweet lace-up sandals. However, the icing on the cake came when the crowd went crazy for the Man Repeller's Leandra Medine as she walked down the runway wearing a pair of black leather shorts and silk blouse. Four Reasons Not to Be Scared of Printed Pants

We're thrilled to present our favorite story from Lucky!
From the innocuous (cloud-speckled Nick and Norah flannel pajama bottoms) to the completely outrageous (MC Hammer in all his harem-pant glory) to the just plain obnoxious (Kingpin, anyone?), printed pants tend to conjure up a bizarre montage of '90s-centric imagery.
