Trend Alert: Attack of the Silver Handbags!

It has been a long time since I have seen something so bold, so much, so shiny, as the attack of the silver handbag. I am perplexed by the myriad of handbag options in this in-your-face color. I mean really, how wearable is a big, bold silver metallic bag? So maybe tasteless heiress Paris Hilton can sport one, but can the soccer mom (no offense)? And these aren't the only ones. I have also spotted new silver bags by Furla, Michael Kors, Tod's, Bally and Lambertson Truex. So take cover - we are under attack!

Retail Therapy Avatar Style Award Winners Are Sillyphat and Loyaljz!

Transport Studio Returns Today With Another Art Sale!

Back in November, New Orleans artists Amanda Stone Talley and Hayley Gaberlavage launched a flash sale art marketplace, Transport Studio, as a forum for new and established collectors to offer a three-day discount on their fine art pieces. The first sale was such a success that Transport is kicking off another limited-time event, running today through Sunday, Feb. 13!

As they hoped, Transport is expanding by welcoming fellow artist friends to the studio and continuing to offer great discounts to collectors. This go-round, jeweler Gogo Borgerding, and interior designer Gerrie Bremermann join the troop with sterling silver cuff bracelets and stellar antique light fixtures, respectively.One of my favorite pieces in the collection is Grumpy Greta by Hayley Gaberlavage ($1,750, reduced from $2,500), which features an inquisitive, elderly woman who's a dead ringer for many a snoopy neighbor I've known in my day. I love the grassy greens, lilac-tinted pinks, and sky blues, as well as Greta's oversize "housecoat" and her sweet '50s-style handbag.

Meanwhile, I'm also lusting after Untitled by Amanda Stone Talley ($1,610, reduced from $2,300). The bright, abstract painting evokes dripping orange Creamsicles and sweetly scented lavender on a hot Summer day. What could be better than that? Only a fab art sale, I suppose.

Lulu Guinness Casts Her Spell

Lulu Guinness is a quirky jewelry, handbag, shoe, linen, rug and optical designer. She's built her brand around a '50s-era, glamorous and edgy-yet-feminine style that has won fans in celebrities from Madonna to Katie Couric. The latest addition to her product range is a perfume called Cast A Spell.

The scent and packaging was inspired by Lulu’s fondness for magical, enchanting and even wicked fairy tales. The fragrance is a blend of sophisticated florals and woodland berries created from notes of frosted blackberry pulp, mulberry, red currant, iced lavender, lilac petals, davana, black velvet fig, amber, bourbon and patchouli.

The bottle-a dramatic contrast of black, white and silver-is meant to resemble a crystal ball surrounded by a thorn and leaf wreath. The collection consists of three eau de parfum sprays: 3.4 ounces ($78), 1.7 ounces ($58), and one ounce ($38). Additionally, there are Magic Dust bath crystals ($32) and a body lotion ($42). It can be found online and in the Lulu's London, New York and Tokyo boutiques.

Coach the Fragrance is Finally Here!

After many months of industry buzz, the American leather and durable canvas handbag company Coach has released their first ever fragrance. Appropriately titled, Coach the Fragrance, $68, it will be available for purchase on March 5th.

Coach and Estee Lauder formed a partnership to create this scent and they are expected to come out with more beauty products in the near future! Made from green mandarin, honey and sandalwood, the scent is a careful balance between sweet and woodsy. It is perfect for the daytime since it is subtle enough not to bug your co-worker in the next cubicle, yet strong enough to create a pleasant aura around you.

The fashionable bottle is made from rectangular solid glass with the Coach signature black and white “C” logo in the background; it has a splash of red enamel around the crown of the bottle. It also comes with the same silver Coach dog tag that adorns each of their namesake bags.

The fragrance is available in a 1.7 oz bottle for $68, a .27 oz purse spray for $42 and a solid perfume for $40. It can can be purchased online, in any Coach boutique nationwide or by calling 1-800-223-8647.
