Trend Alert: Sock Sandals

I wonder if Argentinean teenagers are the real trendsetters of the world. What am I mumbling about? I happen to have a pair of sock sandals that I purchased in Buenos Aires two years ago. They are black, I thought they were very Helmut Lang, and they were $12. All the funky Buenos Aires youngsters were wearing them and I simply had to have a pair.

I wear them with thigh-revealing looks as I think something avant-garde looks best with something sexy. Whitney from The Hills knows how to wear these unique sandals and she does so with ease in her little floral dress. So tell me, are sock sandals all the rage?

Five Tips to Keep Luggage so Fresh and so Clean

Let's just say that finding something stinky or soiled in your suitcase when you arrive at a destination is not the way to kick off the vacation (especially if everything was clean before you left home). Since a smelly opening could happen to any of us, see five smart ways to keep your stuff safeguarded and staying great during the packing process.

Separate your shoes. For flipflops and other flat sandals, grab an oversized pair of socks and place the shoes inside them. This simple step keeps the grit off your clothing and makes them easy to match mates, too. You can even use the free shower caps you receive in hotels to wrap your shoes.
Stack softener sheets for potential smells. While loading, add in a few fabric softener sheets in between layers of clothing. Even clean goods can smell musty inside a closed suitcase, and this step keeps everything fresh in there . . . and can accompany the outfits into drawers upon arrival.
Liquids doubly bagged are doubly safe. While it's required to keep liquids in carry-ons confined to a quart-sized holder, double bag it just to be safe. The same should hold true if you are putting the liquids inside your checked luggage. Conditioner-covered clothing is not cool.

Jet-setters, backpackers, hotel aficionados beware - your carefree travel from point A to point B may not be so innocent after all. There are germs lurking on the check-in counter at the airport, on the subway seat during your morning commute, and on the ice bucket in your hotel room. If you've watched the movie Contagion, you'll most likely already be on high germ alert. Here are are five bacteria-thriving spots travelers should take extra precaution to protect themselves against.

Airports: As soon as you arrive at the airport, you'll come in contact with the check-in counter and ticket kiosk - both of which are covered in bacteria and possibly even mold. Just think of the thousands (possibly millions) of people who have touched these areas before you. Try wiping the kiosk ticket monitor with an antibacterial hand wipe to make sure it's clean before using, or wash your hands afterward as soon as possible.

And to avoid athlete's foot or other fungal infections when walking through the security checkpoint, wear socks (or bring some if you're wearing sandals) - just don't go barefoot! Staphylococcus aureus has been discovered in these checkpoints.

With ladylike silhouettes, sweet, full-bodied prints, an electric palette - and turbans to top every look - Sui's Spring looks bright, polished, and marked with feminine charm in every detail. Nods to the womanly, the glamorous - and the very Parisian - were made throughout, in everything from the bold red lips to the lace veils, and the music transporting the crowd - including front-rower Sofia Coppola - to a bouncy dance scene in retro Paris. We spotted Emma Roberts channeling a more sultry version of socks and sandals while out in West Hollywood. Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012

A sense of youthful fun pervaded Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2012 runway show. It was partly due to Justin Timberlake in the front row, the runway models' crimped hair, dewy skin, and sock-with-sandal styling, but it was mostly the clothes. Not driven so much by a theme as by a girl, a younger girl than de la Renta's traditional customer, who will be a little more playful with her choice of clothes. A feather-trimmed sequined shift, acid-green harem pants with a feathered crop top, and gathered taffeta ball-skirt gowns layered with lace cropped shirts were not for the faint of fashion heart; more staid were a series of easy chiffon shift dresses and wide-leg trousers and pussy-bow blouses. It's as if the almost-80-year-old designer were having a good long wink at the crowd, reminding us that you're never too old to have fun. It's a treat that his version of fun is so darn beautiful, too.

Trends: bold color, volume, asymmetry, crochet, feathers.
Colors: cobalt blue, white, pale pink, champagne, yellow floral print.
Key Piece:The taffeta ball gowns layered with cropped tops in lace and crochet.
