Last Spring's Stella McCartney lingerie offering was colorful, but this time around, the designer is feeling softer with neutral pales, dusty pinks, and lavender. There are 15 groups, each with a cheeky name like Rosie Plotting, Eva Scampering, and Billie Twirling. "This season we looked at the '20s and '50s, which comes through the range in silhouette and specially developed embroidery and gold retro hardware," McCartney said. Look forward to prints like florals, feathers, and ladybugs, and fabrics like tulle, mesh, and silk crepe de chine. Prices range from $45 to $195 - the Spring '10 line will land at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Bloomingdale’s.

On Our Radar: Stella McCartney Lingerie

When the news came last July that Stella McCartney was introducing her first lingerie line, I was intrigued. Now that the collection is hitting stores February 1, I am definitely pumped.

The first round of sweet nothings consists of thirteen different collections, each with cheeky names like Poppy Posing, Coco Blushing, and Eve Giggling. Everything from a '40s vintage-inspired range of bras, bodysuits, and briefs with mesh and silk patches stitched on to a silk georgette star-printed triangle bra and thong are in the mix.

For those of you who like to keep things organized, "Knickers of the Week" gift packs are available, with a week's worth of briefs each embroidered with a different day of the week and floral detail. To see what the "Daisy Dreaming," "Sandy Stripping," and "Iris Sleeping" collections look like, you'll just have to check out the luxe pieces yourself.

Coming to stores in January: Stella McCartney Lingerie!

The collection, which sounds so very pretty, will feature silk, organic cotton and georgette silk chiffon pieces in a signature Stella McCartney palette of soft shades of dusty pink, cream, blue and pearl gray.

Prices will range from about $71 for panties to about $447 for chemises. The new line will be sold at Stella McCartney stores, at Bendon in Australia and New Zealand, as well as specialty stores including Selfridges, Neimans, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew and La Rinascente. Ooh la la.

Between designing cruelty-free guard uniforms for the queen and pumping out an amazing Spring collection, Stella's busy creating sweet undergarments. Her Spring collection of bras, panties, and slips is comprised of pretty prints and neutral tones. Doesn't the soft lace and silky fabrics make you yearn for the warm Spring breeze? Too bad we're right in the middle of Fall. Back to reality. At least we have her pretty lingerie collection to look forward to!

If you think you were busy this year, wait until you see how many designers expanded their businesses in 2008. Hint: It took me a crazy long time to round them all up. Majors like Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney added more to their plates, as did smaller brands such as Members Only and Paige Denim. Stella McCartney just revamped her web site, StellaMcCartney.com, to include a US online store, with the UK in sights for Fall. The well-stocked site is bursting with Stella runway looks, bags, accessories, pieces from her new lingerie line, as well as a new "Stella's World" section, which features backstage videos - including a recent one of Kate Hudson. Best yet, to celebrate the relaunch, the site is offering free shipping until April 15!

Fashion Metamorphosis: Chloé

If we're going to talk about fashion metamorphoses, we can't overlook Chloé. That would be like talking about chocolate and not mentioning Godiva. Like many fashion houses, Chloé has changed hands several times, but what makes it stand out is its desirable roster (Karl Lagerfeld in the late '60s, Stella McCartney in late '90s, and Phoebe Philo from 2001-2006). Many fashion insiders, including myself, were shocked by the recent announcement that creative director Paulo Melim Andersson was being replaced by former assistant director to Valentino, Hannah MacGibbon. The reason behind the split is unknown, though some attribute it to a difference of opinion over where the brand should be headed.

Naturally, with the change of hands at fashion houses, the designs will vary slightly or drastically. In Chloé's case, I'd say it's been more subtle than drastic. Founder and French designer Gaby Aghion, who invented Ready-to-Wear as a rejection of the stiff formality of the '50s fashion, set the tone with soft, body-conscious clothes. Karl brought in romance with gauzy blouses and long skirts. Stella (left) threw in a streetwise mix of vintage lingerie to the romance, while Phoebe (center) injected sexy daywear and fluid lines. Though short-lived, Paulo (right) took Chloé to a more artsy place. One similarity to note between all Chloé designers is the innovative use of sheerness. We have yet to see what Hannah will do for the brand, but there's a good chance she'll reenact the Phoebe Philo years since she worked closely with the designer, originally as a part of the design team and later as chief designer. I'll take that and I'm sure Chloé-fan Kate Bosworth will agree!

Fab Flash: Roberto Cavalli at H&M

Roberto Cavalli is the newest addition to the league of designers who debut collections for H&M around the winter holiday season, a league which includes Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, and Viktor & Rolf.

Cavalli's H&M collection, which features 20 menswear pieces and 25 womenswear pieces, including lingerie and matching accessories, promises to be full of his signature vivid prints and striking colors, all for a fraction of their normal price. The collection debuts in 200 H&M stores worldwide on November 8. I wouldn't surprised if one of you sees Beyonce, Posh, or J. Lo shopping right there with you come November 8 - they're all huge Cavalli fans!
