Fab Ad: Bottega Veneta, Fall '09

For Fall, Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier chose to work with Russian model Anna Jagodzinska and famed photographer Steven Meisel. And he's thrilled with the outcome. "I admire the intelligence that [Meisel] brings to fashion. . . . He approaches clothes with an understanding of the women who wear them and an awareness of the cultural context in which fashion exists," Maier said. Bottega is never one for in-your-face ads, and this latest campaign is no exception. Still, I like how the dark, moody background allows the clothes and bags to shine. Side note, for the first time ever, these ads will be advertised in newspapers like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and London Times. What do you think of them?

Fab Ad: Madonna For Louis Vuitton Fall '09

One thing is for sure: Madonna and Marc Jacobs can't get enough of those bunny ears. Louis Vuitton's Fall '09 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel in NYC, captures (an overly) Photoshopped image of the the pop star wearing an outfit similar to the one she proudly paraded to the Met Gala complete with '80s-inspired mesh fingerless gloves and an oversized LV monogrammed bag. Madonna's mannequin-like pose and blemish-free face are too unrealistic for my taste but might appeal to some Material Girl aficionados. What say you - a hit or major diss?

Girls on Film: Sasha Pivovarova, Vogue Italia May '09

Put together sensual Sasha Pivovarova and Morocco and you have pure ecstasy. For Vogue Italia's May issue, Steven Meisel snapped Sasha looking like a Moroccan marvel in traditional yet stylish garb from the North African country - all, of course, with a fashion flair. Baggy harem pants ruled, as did vibrant pops of orange, raspberry, and red. Sasha's stacked bangles and coin necklaces also caught my eye and of course, that hair! There's something about the dank, dark background and how Meisel made a collage of two photos - Sasha along with historic images of the country - that portrays a very eclectic feel. Looks like I'll be adding a Moroccan holiday to my travel queue . . . Source

Which Face Is Most Fab on Vogue's Model-Infused May Cover?

We've been celebrating models all month long in anticipation of the Met's Costume Institute Gala model-themed extravaganza next month. Vogue is right there with us. Their May issue is dedicated to the gorgeous faces that mold the industry and one special photographer who helped made lots of them happen - Steven Meisel. He shot this gatefold cover with some of today's bright young things. I'm not going to reveal who my favorite is - OK, it's between Liya, Lara, and Natasha - but which face leaves you wanting more?

Fab Flash: Calvin Klein's Racy Video Campaign Causes a Stir

Calvin Klein is no stranger to censorship. Last year, the brand was prohibited from showing Eva Mendes's sexy lingerie ads, and now they're receiving another slap on the wrist. The brand's steamy new Calvin Klein Jeans video campaign, shot by Steven Meisel, has also been banned in the US.

The grainy commercial depicts hottie models - Anna Selezneva, Anna Jagodzinska, and Natasha Poly to name a few - all over each other in what looks to be a old basement. It's definitely steamy, but we've see way worse on TV screens. Calvin Klein is currently working on an edited version that will air on cable. Across the pond, our overseas friends will get to see the uncensored version on their tellies.

Fab Ad: Prada Spring/Summer '09

Attenzione! Prada has a new look. I, for one, am excited. It's always smart for designers to mix it up. While the house is sticking with photog Steven Meisel, a slew of blond models show off Prada's rumpled, but sophisticated, Spring collection. Here's the mannequin list: Nimue Smit, Giedre Dukauskaite, Sigrid Agren, Toni Garrn, Katrin Thormann, Viktoriya Sasonkina, and Ymre Stiekema. Whew! But, it makes for awesome dramatic effect. The clothes are slightly undone and neutrally colored, but the models are polished with their chignons and glossy skin. And those shoes - the ones that had models tripping up on the runway - the shoes look fantastically folksy. What do you think, has Prada outdone themselves?

Madonna's highly anticipated ads for Louis Vuitton are out! The Parisian-themed campaign, shot in LA by Steven Meisel, depicts the ageless pop star in a smokey French cafe looking tres chic in her LV. “She’s so sure of herself as an icon and as a woman," says creative director Marc Jacobs. “What fascinates me the most about her is her never-ending energy, and the idea of becoming and changing. She’s an artist who’s unafraid to use her voice.”

I love the contrast between Madge's classic makeup and LV's ethnic-inspired accessories. However, the brown backdrop and attire are too demure for my taste - but that's just me. Overall, it's a sultry campaign. What do you think?

What a perfect time to stumble upon this amazing editorial of Linda Evangelista by photog Steven Meisel. Her complex feather headpieces make me look forward to Thanksgiving. But what especially draws me in is the intense strength Linda exudes. She draws you in, no, she sucks you in. Picture after picture, each outfit gets more outrageous and each pose gets more powerful. Behold the magic of Linda and Steven.

Could it be true? Rumor has it Louis Vuitton has nabbed Madonna for its Spring campaign. According to sources, the ads were photographed by Steven Meisel. Meisel and the material girl have shared a long history of working together. His latest (confirmed) shoot with Madonna was for the May cover of Vanity Fair. We're bubbling with excitement.

Fab Ad: Lanvin Spring 2008

It's no secret this Spring is set to be saturated with color. Lanvin got the inspiration rolling by placing their deliciously bold party frocks in a painterly setting. Renaissance colors embolden the wildflower background and set off the vividly colored dresses and the model Olga Sherer's pale skin. Photographer Steven Meisel was an absolute visionary in his approach. These may be some of my favorite ads of the season - what about you?
