What's the Deal With: STRAPLESS Heart Rate Monitors

In case you're not familiar with heart rate monitors, they usually come with a watch you wear on your wrist, and a chest strap transmitter that you wear around your chest, since it is after all a chest strap. This strap goes next to your skin (sometimes you have to wet it a little with saliva or water to activate it) and it reads your heart rate and transmits the beats per minute to the watch.

Heart rate monitors can be expensive, depending on how many bells and whistles you get, but these strappy heart rate monitors will give you a constant readout of your heart rate, whether you're moving or not.

Then there are STRAPLESS heart rate monitors, like this one from Reebok called the Fitwatch 10S Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch. Don't be fooled! These sound innovative and amazing, but here's the deal. They don't give you a continuous readout. You see those two little grey buttons above and below the screen? You have to stop moving and stand still, press down on those buttons, and after 2-10 seconds, it'll tell you what your heart rate is.

These may not be good for people who have low resting heart rates, irregular heartbeats, or poor circulation in your fingertips.

You may be okay with having to stop every time to check your heart rate just so you don't have to deal with that annoying and constricting chest strap (that can slide down your torso when you get sweaty). If that's the case, this Reebok model got some great reviews. It's easy to use, gives you just as accurate a reading as strappy heart rate monitors, looks more sleek and feminine than other bulky watches, and is only $63.07 through Amazon.

She never takes my breath away but she also doesn't make me cringe. I adore her Chloe Heloise bag and how she spiced up a simple strapless dress with a white tank!

Vera Wang Voile Strapless Dress: Love It or Hate It?

I'm iffy about this Vera Wang Lavender Cotton Voile Strapless Dress, $430, posted by SaraSmile in the Love It or Hate It? group. I would totally rock it if it didn't have those huge, heavy pockets. For such a delicate frock, the pockets are too harsh. Plus, they take your attention away from the pretty ruching at the bodice. Do you agree?

Reese Witherspoon Trades Her Sexy Premiere Night For a Casual Afternoon

Reese Witherspoon threw on a printed skirt and navy sweater to run errands in Brentwood today. She was out and about following a fun night at the premiere of This Means War yesterday. Reese wore a strapless Miu Miu dress for the occasion and stopped to sign autographs and chat with fans before heading into the screening. Her leading men Tom Hardy and Chris Pine were also on hand as was costar and pal Chelsea Handler. The movie hits select theaters next Tuesday, just in time for Valentine's Day. It'll be Reese's first romantic holiday with her husband, Jim Toth, since the two tied the knot last March. Rachel McAdams stepped out solo yesterday to pick up groceries at Whole Foods in Santa Monica. She's had a busy month and it all culminates tomorrow with the release of The Vow. Rachel wore a strapless Vivienne Westwood dress to Monday night's LA premiere, where she met up with her onscreen leading man Channing Tatum. Rachel's real-life love Michael Sheen skipped the event, though he recently shared a romantic lunch date with Rachel. Michael and Rachel have been going strong since first striking up a connection while filming Midnight in Paris. The Woody Allen-directed film is nominated for best picture at the Oscars, and we'd love to see Michael and Rachel together at the Feb. 26 ceremony.

Reese, Tom, and Chris Team Up to Show This Means War in LA

Reese Witherspoon joined her This Means War leading men on the red carpet at their LA premiere last night. She was decked out in a strapless dress from Miu Miu to sign autographs for fans and pose for pictures with "Piney" and Tom, who brought along his British actress fiancée Charlotte Riley. Reese, Chris, and Tom were together last weekend for their junket as well. We caught up with the trio there, and Reese joked about the challenges of choosing one of the two guys, Chris or Tom, in the movie. Yesterday, Reese talked about having more kids. She said, "I would love that!"

Chelsea Handler, who plays Reese's BFF, didn't pose with her costars. Instead, she made her way solo down the press line, and joked with us about her relationships with Reese, Chris, and Tom. When asked which actor, Chris or Tom, she would pick if given the choice, Chelsea went with Mr. Hardy since she's a big fan of muscles. But so many of the confessions in the Tell It section (in which users spill but don’t sell) are stories of men doing horrible things and women in horrible situations. The headline “NICE BOOTS BAD GUY” made us laugh . . . but the person who got dumped while her mother was dying broke our hearts.

Is It Cost-Effective or Cursed?

From a consumer's view, it’s a great deal! Over $1,000 off a Tiffany wedding band? It sounds too good to be true. And maybe it is. If you believe in karma, acquiring trinkets from failed relationships just might doom you to the same fate. Then again, wedding dresses for 40 percent off!
